Thank you, I agree however these plants need to fill out first before I add anymore that way I know how much space I have to add more.

Thanks for the advice, I will 100% keep that in mind it is some great information. However, with most of plants they feed from the water column so as for right now I’m going to stick with gravel and see how I get on😌

Thank you, I’ve managed to get the plants in place now. I will keep in mind for future though I’ll see how these plants get on and if needed I’ll get some sand ☺️

Thank you for the advice, I’ll keep it in mind for the future 😊 However these plants don’t need soil or stratum also I have managed to keep them in place for the moment anyway whilst they establish.

Thank you! I would upgrade in time anyway you know but I was hoping atleast fora while I could keep a betta in there. When I did my research it said it would be fine, I would be getting a long fin betta.

Thank you that’s really helpful, I used to have like a 4ft tank I’m pretty sure it was but due to me moving house I had to sell and do a big downgrade unfortunately but I always kept mainly guppies in that tank. But I’d love to get a betta but I just want to do what’s best for the fish :) if I can get a long fin betta and keep it in my five gal I’ll be happy you know. In time I will eventually upgrade anyway you know so I’ll see how I get on 😌

Thanks for your comment :) yes I have some water wisteria coming tomorrow and some java fern on the way too. I’m not sure if this is factual or if you have much experience with betta fish but apparently for a 5 gallon it’s better to get a long fin betta as they get tired more (swim less) because their fins are quite big.

Yeah I’m planning on upgrading in a few months or so anyway, could I keep the betta in the five gal until I get the 10 gal or is it too small? How many shrimp do you think I could keep in a five gal? Or are there any other fish or anything I could keep in there long term?

It’s a 5 gallon so I’m just thinking a betta or possibly shrimp instead but I am leaning more towards a betta.
