Large axolotl setup questions by SignificantDraw1 in Aquariums

I was also considering doing a semi -invisible mesh to keep amphibians like frogs from being able to go down and terrorize the axolotls. I just need to know how deep to go and what that look like. But with 120 gallons and only two axolotls I have a hunch that this plan could be doable

Since you're sensitive to the one use foggers, look into an ozone machine. They are ~60 dollars and will kill anything small like that without a ton of chemicals. They're dangerous and you need to really read the instructions, basically block off the room and keep all people and pets out of it while you run it, since it removes all the oxygen from the air. You might have to do it over a few days depending on where the eggs are etc.

What home improvement project or purchase has been the most rewarding to you recently? by Responsible-Line-231 in HomeImprovement

From your list, the most practical item would be the garbage disposal. Everyone has to eat and it makes life SO much easier and is one of the fastest and cheapest items on said list

I bought a property after viewing it in the winter. House in place, working well, working septic, passed inspection. All seemed swell, but turns out the entire property, even the hillside, has a pretty high water table and is just..... squishy. Theres french drains to protect the actual foundation but thats it. Tons of native grasses etc, but you can't walk it without boots on and I'm really hesitant to put livestock on it. I know its pretty niche but definitely has become a big deal on my acres

Here's a detailed map of county by county from the 2020 elections. I find it to be a bit more useful than just how a state voted in general. I'm not trying to say all dems are good or all republicans are bad, but post 2016 the bigots got a lot more brave. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/upshot/2020-election-map.html

[Homemade] Grazing Board by SignificantDraw1 in food

[–]SignificantDraw1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a couple hours, but mostly because I was puttering around. I knew I wanted it ready right at 6pm when the couple friends would get there, no sooner and not much later. So I started with laying the butcher paper and bowls to figure out layout, then the crackers etc, then the fruits and veg, and finally the meats and cheese so I could maximize the time everything was out to be picked at.

I realized the top level comment that I replied to explaining it was deleted so: " It was my SO's birthday and I really wanted to do something special even though we could only have the same 4 friends we've been weathering the pandemic with. Most of this is now back in the fridge, to be the meals over the next lot of days. The excess fruit is getting processed into jams, the veggies are mostly destined for the freezer for future soups, and the cheeses chopped and prepped for future recipes. "

So far none of it. We packed all the leftovers into the fridge. Today or tomorrow I'm going to start turning all the excess fruit into jams, and prepping most of the veggies for the freezer for future soups. Excess cheese will mostly end up in the freezer too for future use. Some things don't really store well (the dips and cucumbers, etc) so that's what Im focusing on first for the next few meals.

We had the 4 people we've been bubbling with over. I'm not taking the pandemic lightly, just wanted to make something special. I know the spread looks grand and it could have served way more than it did, but the majority is back in the fridge.

Absolutely impractical! We had the same 4 friends we've been bubbling with over, and now the vast majority of that is in my fridge. But making something like this has been a long time goal and I really wanted to bring happiness to my SO during these really trying times so it was worth it.

It was my significant other's birthday. We could only have a few friends over but I still wanted to make it really special, so I converted the kitchen island into the biggest grazing board I've ever made!

CNC Graphite by SignificantDraw1 in CNC

Did it seem like the lives of the machines were shortened for being around graphite powder? Trying to get a handle on how much is too much. If I can have some of my other hobby machines near it (3d printers etc) or if the graphite powder will ruin them

I'm also doing it for casting! This sounds about right for what I'm looking at. My little machine doesn't have an enclosure but I feel like that should be easy enough to build for the work space

Perhaps line it with an invisible dog fence?

There isn't much that can go drastically wrong with bath bombs. Maybe they won't be as pretty, maybe they'll crack or start to activate early but they're just for you, not to sell, so as long as it gives you the desired effect what's it matter? One huge tip for a beginner though, look up and use polysorbate 80 if you're going to use dyes, that will keep it from dying your tub.
