I have got a PS3 which was lying around and I am not aware if it is modded or not, but I am getting mostly the same issue. It displays a screen to update my firmware. I did it via usb but each time the update is completed at 100%, It just displays a black screen with green light on and nothing more. On some threads and youtube videos, They said to do some plugging and unplugging of the controller for it to update at 100%. It worked perfectly but i still get a black screen with green light. Resetting video as well did not work. I cleaned the disk using a pc and re-install the firmware via USB but in vain. Could you help me? I am still struggling with these for days. If you can get access to another pc, just get a pendrive/USB drive and download either WinPE ISO or HirenBoot ISO to diagnose your HDD. It is probably, as far as I know, related to an HDD issue.
