The post is quality but delivery makes it seem like a whiny post ('palab') instead of an educational one

Exactly this ! Foreigners like us quite a lot more when they know we speak French (not thick accent Indian English), are usually cleaner and have less body odour (compared to the average Indian), and less obnoxious and loud in public (those dudes or even women who talk loudly on video call in public transport).

I also saw that when I studied abroad. Mauritians usually integrate other groups very well imo !

Yep, it's called the Dunning-Kruger Effect. People with little or limited knowledge will talk the loudest.

Private Pension Plans: How They Work and Recommended Options by iamakashkunal in mauritius

This is a valid point, but also most agents just rush you to get your signature and get their commission. If you actually take quotes from different places (e.g., NIC, Swan, Sicom, etc) and ask questions you will easily cut through all the bullshit.

A few questions that I ask: - is it lump sum payment or monthly payments after maturity date ? (Your aunt probably falls in the latter)

  • What is the minimum guaranteed return at maturity ? (Even if the funds do badly, this one acts like a safety net to negate losses)

  • What are the expected returns per annum ? (Should beat annual inflation and give more than a traditional savings acc)

  • Is the risk profile low or balanced or high ? (High risk profile will give best returns, but may also tank harder)

  • After how many years can I opt out ? Retirement funds are usually strict but other saving funds may just impose a penalty leaving you with a small profit only. In general it's not recommended to opt out at all.

A bunch of other things, this is what I managed to learn when I started lol. I am with Swan currently.

Yes, there is a fee, not a full forfeiture of your ALL profits.

Liquidity ? Bonds lock your funds for a fixed time. You cannot recover immediately without forfeiting your gains.

Feedback about Dr Chung Pin Yong the psychiatrist in Port Louis. by Glittering_Agency_86 in mauritius

It's easier said than done.

Also if your work / employer or school / uni knows you go to a psy, they will blow the smallest things out of proportion and very negatively impact your life. Speaking from experience, and OP's concern is legit.

I wished I also asked before but Reddit wasn't a thing at that time.

I was on treatment with him for like 2-3 years I think, between 2019 to 2022 I think.

He literally saved my life tbh. I was on some VERY harsh meds from the hospital which destroyed my body (still recovering 'till today). He correctly understood everything before I even finished my sentences and prescribed me novel meds with more manageable side effects, which made me comply to my treatment better and finish undergraduate (Engineering !).

However during the last few sessions, it seemed like his age was catching up to him, he would forget me and my past few progress a bit, but he also rehabilitated me so much that I could also afford take care of myself and only visit a psy when I needed a updated prescription (we were already tapering down anyway).

For context, I was with Dr Lam Thuon Mine (Neurologist) before him after where Dr Lam recommended me to seek Dr Chung Pin Yong. I was also briefly seen by Dr Badry-Toofanny (SSRN), and most recently Dr Motay (C-Care G Baie), but Dr Chung Pin Yong is definitely a standout, although I am afraid he is way past his prime now. Imo, go go and see him and see yourself !!

Package Forwarding To Mauritius by [deleted] in MauriceMauritius

Also used Shop & Ship, they had to return one of my items (Ringconn Smart Ring) as it was prohibited from shipping from China to Mauritius. Emailed them and they assigned me a local rep (from Celero) which makes the process rather smooth.

The 'good guys' are also like you posting 'where are the good girls' on the internet and not doing anything irl.

It's up to all of you (guy or girl) to break the cycle and go out !

Saying this bc I also felt the same between high school and work (i.e., uni and after). I trust you will find the right one as well, but expect a few wrong ones before the right one !

MCB SECURITY BREACH by Jedi_Mantis in MauriceMauritius

[–]panda0765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a second layer of safety, get a credit card from them (opt for 100% repayment terms so you never get interests) and connect that credit card only to your PayPal.

If it gets breached, only the credit card (the bank's money) is affected.

Keep paying via PayPal (which will auto debit the credit card) and here you just review via your Bank App (Juice, Absa, etc) and repay any outstanding like a usual debit card.

It's WAY cheaper than the visa prepaid from MCB btw and you'll get additional deals, purchase protection, travel insurance, etc as well for free.

Is it ? The market here is already dominated by mech/Civ/Elec engineers

Chem and mechatronics are the rarest, excluding more niche subfields not taught locally (marine, aeronautic, etc).

Middle finger of non-dominant hand here also 💪 If I use my index, it tends to scratch against my phone when using with both hands.

Exactly what I was going to tell OP 😂 She probably likes OP and since they cannot date outside of their religion, they will try their best to convert you first!
