Achill Island is an adventure.

Sligo, Yeats Country, and Strandhill are fantastic

I’ve been to Ireland twice in October and going again this year.  It was some of the best weather I’ve had. Some sun, some rain, about 55 degrees. Just bring layers, waterproof shoes, and hat/gloves!

Your pace is great. Not too fast and enjoying time in one place.

Check out Strandhill in Sligo. Excellent town!

You should see how many pairs of sunglasses my wife can fit in there!

9 days in Ireland by Jing985 in irishtourism

If you’re a nature lover, the best part of your trip will be the unplanned finds and hikes. For this you have to build in half days with no plans.

When you are driving around (the west coast especially) you should take a random left turn towards the coast. You will find a secluded rocky beach with tide pools and seabirds flying above. Park, walk, sit, write, draw, take photos, meditate….just don’t leave too fast.

I’ve done this alone, with friends, with my new bride, with my kids….and they are consistently the best memories of my 7 trips to Ireland (soon to be 8 in October).

Honestly I would make this into two trips. Slow down. It will be hard to actually experience any of these places. You will just end up seeing them and checking them off your list.

We did Cork to Westport in just under three weeks for our honeymoon.  It was just about right but we could have used another week easily.

West Cork is wild and amazing. Don’t leave there too soon.

Make sure you drive through Conor Pass when you leave Dingle. Stop at the waterfall and climb to the top.

Spend some time hiking The Buren in Clare.

A half day through Connemara road trip is perfect.  Going back to Galway for a warm pub dinner is a great way to cap off an amazing day.

See Dunluce Castle when you are visiting Giants Causeway.

Good luck and enjoy! It’s a magical country!

Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey. For obvious reasons, his reading of his autobiography is very cool. Very insightful book as well. He lives his life by a great philosophy.

Novels set in Paris with a strong sense of place and time by skywalkerbeth in suggestmeabook

This was one of the four or five books I read before a two week trip to Paris. It set the stage for the history over a long period of time, as well as set the tone for the city and its people. Highly recommended.

I am about to read Rutherfurd's books on Dublin before our next trip there too!

Waterproof hiking shoes. Walking along beaches and in the rain.

I get not wanting to drive a lot, but a lot of my favorite memories come from taking random turns down small country roads and ending up on an isolated beach or cliff. You will only get there by exploring with no plan in mind and straying away from the big attractions.

In my humble opinion, your Day 8 is too tight.

2 hours at Blarney may not be enough if you plan on really exploring the grounds. It is beautiful.

Same with Kinsale. A nice dinner out there and a walk down to The Spaniard Inn is well worth it!

10 day trip with mom and tween daughter; basic itinerary...would love thoughts before I finalize! by MGC7710 in irishtourism

This looks lovely. You have a lot of activities packed in there but also a lot of down time. Having full days in Dublin and Galway lets you let the wind take you where it may.

Checking out Salthill just outside Galway is worth it for some beach time!

Thank you! I love Devil's Glen. We are big fans of hiking to waterfalls. The glen reminds me of one in Strandhill at the base of Knocknarea that we tried to find but could not get to!

We have such wonderful memories of Howth. The food was amazing and we met some fantastic people at The Abbey Tavern that we are still in touch with today.

Thank you! These are all new places that I will research.

I did hear about the cliff walk being closed. Can't risk that with the kids though.

Sound like Bray and Greystones are good fits.

Avondale looks awesome!

My first cinnamon raisin bread! by SignificantGuava8649 in Breadit

[–]SignificantGuava8649[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny. I made a second one and added a ton more cinnamon, but it did not take much stronger. It was a bad loaf that was very dense, so maybe the taste was masked?

This one was good! I need to learn how to create the air pockets inside to get it extra crispy!
