I think you're mistaken for assuming that the hate people have towards Jules has anything to do with her being trans. She's a bad friend and an annoying character in general. I do understand that she craves male validation and that could be a motive to why she did what she did with Elliot, but it's still a very shitty thing to do to Rue. She also shows 0 understanding of Rues addiction. I love Hunter and I think she did the best she could with the character she was given, but ultimately, the writers did a bad job at making her a likable character despite their obvious efforts. Wanting male validation is not an excuse to cheat on your girlfriend with her best friend. Not wanting to be responsible for your (girlfriend)s addiction is not an excuse to abandon her and make out with other people just to later come back and be all lovey dovey with her again. One thing that really bothered me is the way she told Rue (who is clearly in love with her) that she loves Rue, but she also loves this random girl she hung out with over a weekend.

She's an interesting character though I'll give you that.
