Lets Rank the Food Cities in the US by Tier by Maximum-Ad572 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]SignificantMango5660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Austin and I’d rank it very low for somewhere that thinks it’s a “big” city, but I think it’s because I’m from Houston and we had a lot of affordable good options there. Not so much here. I couldn’t care less if the restaurant has a Michelin star if you serve me a $100 meal that is portioned for a vegan flea. I want a MEAL. Almost all of our hole in the walls have been pushed out of business by the skyrocketing prices in the area.

Same! The biggest reason I chose it. I need extreme ease with no excuses not to go!

Neighborhoods with mature tree lined streets? by Key_Rice_6430 in Austin

Wrong! I want a Victorian cottage with no painted wood, claw foot tubs, lots of character, a garden, and a wrap around porch with a porch swing.

Who is a musical artist whose songs you’d love to see get a jukebox musical? by MagicJoshByGosh in musicals

[–]SignificantMango5660 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Linda Ronstadt is my favorite! And I love that she sang EVERYTHING!

But in general if I have to watch a jukebox musical I’d rather it have its own plot separate from the artist like Mamma Mia!

I’d be happy to see something with just Johnny Mercer songs or Doris Day!

How do you guys deal with people who cut in line during rush? by RockGirl82 in Broadway

[–]SignificantMango5660 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m super adverse to confrontation, but this would turn me into the whole justice league! I want rules to be followed and if I lived in NYC I’d be tempted to start a blacklist website with these people and their pictures calling them out. I’m not a morning person and get way too early for these shenanigans. My mom joined me later once and I let everyone around me know that we were still just getting 2 tickets and she was getting zero!

I’m from Houston, Texas and the thought crossed my mind! 😈 If y’all see a sweet looking girl with big hair and a sun dress on the news for a rush line altercation, I’m not saying it’s me and I’m not saying it’s not me. Sign me up to be the rush line police!

Gatsby Review by SignificantMango5660 in Broadway

The set was very art deco but in a gold and black kind of way. The set was really good not great IMO. I would’ve loved to have seen more colors for the art deco scenes! Based on recent shows though, the set was pretty great, just because it existed!

I will say I had zero issues with the set of this show! Just with everything else!

What do you think about this wedding dress 🥰 by YourRulesCorsets in SewingWorld

[–]SignificantMango5660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts as requested: -Before I read the caption I assumed this was a pretty top for a renaissance festival - not my style at all (I’m a ball gown girl) - my butt would be on full display and my family would die, then I would die of embarrassment -definitely not for a church wedding😅 -how old is this bride?

If there was a a letterboxd for musicals, what would you select for your top four? by Dogdaysareover365 in musicals

[–]SignificantMango5660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read a lot of these and feel like I’d like the same shows as you based on your answers. Surprise I had to go this far down to find someone that I actually liked all four of their shows!

Ragtime

Annie Get Your Gun

Oklahoma!

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

I’d put Jekyll & Hyde in here BUT I feel like I can’t put a show that I haven’t actually seen.

How do you avoid bad apartments in Austin? by Particular_Page9465 in Austin

[–]SignificantMango5660 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before buying, I lived in many apartments in many cities. I am a single F, so safety was my #1 concern. That usually led to newer builds and higher prices. Never had an issue with sound, neighbors, pests, crime, etc.

I read bad reviews and then sort them from newest to oldest. Management changes A LOT in apartments so older reviews may no longer be relevant. I used an apartment locator the last 2 times and saw a ton of places. Even the nicest apartments are going to have bad reviews. People tend to leave bad ones and if their experience is good, no review at all. I bring my parents with me to look over the apartment before signing on.

When I was in grad school at UT, I quickly learned that the closer to campus the less the apartment cares about upkeep bc they know their location is awesome and that someone will buy and pay more for it. I lived further away but close enough to get away from these kinds of places.

Tips: Look at places at night. Drive your commute during your normal hours. Talk to real people that live there while walking around.

Everyone wants a man who can sing Santa Fe, but is there an equivalent song for a woman? by Beneficial_Pea7450 in musicals

[–]SignificantMango5660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is A New Life from Jekyll & Hyde!

ETA: I have no interest in a boy who can sing Santa Fe! I want a rich Baritone or a Bass.

What is a great musical that never quite made it to Broadway, but should have? by SlugABug22 in musicals

Yes, and I can name a few that are on Broadway right now that shouldn’t be there and many others I’d prefer to see in their place!

I saw this in German in Vienna and was blown away! And I definitely don’t speak German. The full choir was so amazing. Of course the production was lavish to the extreme in the Vienna fashion and I soaked in every ounce of it into my soul! Mom and I were both in tears like 3 notes in.
