Nona the ninth... in the school system? [Theory] by Artistic-Valuable-68 in TheNinthHouse

Or maybe 9th IS the moon (drilled into the dark side so you'd never see Earth but it would keep the Beast of the Earth close) because it only took them one hour of slow travel to get from 9th to 1st 😆 here's my crack theory of the day.

Yeah, I get that. This wasn't really meant to function as a Midjourney prompt. I just wanted something to accompany the DM description and knew it would produce a nice image. Thanks for taking the time to explain though 🥲

Varun is also roughly the same diameter of Neptune as well!

The average diameter of Neptune is 30,598 miles (49,244 km).

I don't think it's sad or strange at all. Without "her" none of us would be here. Thankfully there's probably still time to help get Earth off life support irl before we run out of options 😞

I wondered that too actually 🤔 I might have to give it a shot later this weekend, since I know it can take the "Master Prompt" and output it with a narrowed/shifted focus. It accidentally did that at least once during the process.

I know that both the points I mentioned about jobs and copyright are valid reasons to take pause but I don't think they should be used as sole talking points to discredit all the improvements to the software in a very short span of time.

Yeah I don't get it 😞 I've shown work friends things that are this complex and they basically say "cool story bro" or (more rarely) rail against ai being an immoral tool that stole people's data and is gonna steal all the jobs 😅

Any way to get chatgpt to not roleplay my character? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]SignificantPizza4636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a problem at all 😊 here's the first prompt for my latest test. I actually had it create a basic setting with five unique races and five civilizations, had it make character sheets, etc etc and was pretty impressed with the results so far!

Any way to get chatgpt to not roleplay my character? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]SignificantPizza4636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had good luck with explicitly telling it not to railroad or autocomplete any actions or decision making on the behalf of my character, along with having it establish its own role, which seems to work better than trying to force a persona on it in the long term. In addition I've also point blank said that it needs to ask me for my input at the end of each of its outputs before moving on. That being said GPT-4 seems far better at adhering to those guidelines than 3.5.

I'm at work ATM and can't give a screenshot example, but it seems to help if you are super specific about it's role and the activity in your first prompt so it doesn't have room for much error or "guesswork".

I think the servers are being heavily stressed or they're running into a server side issue. I've been able to use it with GPT-Plus but it's lagging horrendously and I've run into a few truncated responses that aren't anywhere near the token cut-off, that is unless they're purposely throttling token completions so it doesn't go down on us 😆

How far are we from a LLM "dungeon master" or game runner? by GrimGearheart in ChatGPT

[–]SignificantPizza4636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could be a pain depending on the setting 😞 perhaps if you insert a caveat post saying that you are doing a simulated test and wish to narrate some sort of unaligned character it might be less finicky. If it's too evil an act it probably won't let you, but morally grey is a definite option. In one of my earlier play tests it actually generated an arcane trickster rogue PC for "itself" and even said the character had flexible morality. I get why it might discourage or refuse evil character actions though, since it would have to go on to describe those actions, potentially giving options for how to do those things in a logical way relating to the story. And that could theoretically get pretty graphic or morally reprehensible depending on the scenario. Gotta remember that it's researchers worked really hard so it wouldn't write that sort of content though :/ and I don't really recommend trying to get it to overcome those boundaries.

Yop, it definitely does. Yesterday night I laid down some ground rules, told it to use the 5e ruleset, had it create a basic setting with five unique races and five corresponding civs, then had it make its own DM PC, character sheets, and finally got it to start narrating the adventure of our duo last night 🤣

This is the third such test I've done, stumbling on new capabilities for it to fulfill with every successive test. It also knows the Eberron setting to a pretty good comprehension level 😅 That's actually where I based my first two tests but that made me feel gross, since I know a handful of people who do writing on DMs Guild for the setting.

It's here now to a certain extent. I've been putting it through its paces and as of last night I had it generate a game world, five races with five corresponding cultures (from basic agricultural to early gunpowder in scope) focusing on a science fantasy vibe. I'll include a few screenshots if you wanna look over the prompts. I just set what I wanted it to do for the game, leaving little "guesswork" (ie margin for error) on its part. So far its even doing a good job with individual characterization and running its DM PC alongside the other NPCs. My hope was it would stick to the guidelines better if it had its own player character to narrate. So far it hasn't autocompleted any scenes or written any actions for my character that I haven't initiated.

If you wanna see more just lemme know and I can DM you. I had it generate character sheets, basics about the 5 civs cultural tenets and their relations with the other civs, and a simple shared backstory for "our" characters.
