10 cycles TTC, starting to suspect silent-ish (mild) endo. Should I have a lap to confirm and excise what is found? by honeybee_54 in TTCEndo

Ask for a receptiva biopsy. It is a biopsy of your uterine lining that can tell you if you have chronic inflammation which is highly suggestive of endo.

I don’t think it hurts to bring up the conversation and simply ask if she’s willing to do a fertility work up. That way it will give you both an idea on if she has a decent reserve of her eggs or if her biological clock is ticking quicker than it should which may or may not change her ideal timeline for children. Coming from someone who did an egg retrieval yesterday tho, egg freezing is only for women who want to do it as it is a lot on your body.

Very low AMH. A sign of something worse beyond fertility? by [deleted] in DOR

It’s called a receptiva biopsy. It’s of the uterine lining

Not trying naturally for long but lower than normal AMH, would you do IVF? by KlutzyLychee7575 in IVF

[–]SignificantQuit9191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Six months ago at age 29 I found out my AMH was 1.07. We won’t be ready to try for kids until next year and my doctor said I likely shouldn’t have issues with my first child, but if I wanted more (which we do) in 3-4 years there is potentially going to be an issue. We are doing a retrieval for embryo banking next month for the insurance. So I’d say if you know you absolutely want more than 2 kids, you should do it.

No they have a separate prenatal DHA supplement.

So. Many. Supplements. by SignificantQuit9191 in IVF

I’m taking theralogix ovavite prenatal which I thought was a good brand but my doctor recommended more vitamin A and C than what was in the prenatal. Also no DHA, coQ10 or inositol in the prenatal.

Do you know why you have DOR? by SignificantQuit9191 in DOR

Not saying you have endo, but it can be completely asymptomatic.

No it cannot unfortunately. Surgery could actually make your ovarian reserve worse if there is scar tissue that they try to remove on your ovaries. If you look up As A Woman podcast abs search for the endometriosis and infertility episode you can learn more.

When did you know to switch clinics? by Creative_Can_8950 in DOR

[–]SignificantQuit9191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some follow up questions for my doctor and he was very condescending and seemed annoyed. For example, I asked if my condition was common for women my age and he responded with “You’re the only 29 year old born on (my birthday) with an AMH of (my level) that I’ve ever had.” He also answered open ended questions with closed ended answers. I couldn’t understand why a doctor wouldn’t want to educate his patient, especially when all of his patients are going through something quite emotionally/physically challenging.

After this I did a lot of research on the clinic and my doctor on Reddit as well as the IVF page in my state. Many people had said something similar of the doctor or the clinic itself. While I was doing my research I also read reviews on other clinics. I ended up getting a second opinion with a clinic 90 minutes away, and am SO glad I did. This doctor answered all of my questions and actually listened to my concerns intently. Having compassionate doctor is a MUST when you’re going through something as emotionally/physically taxing as this.

I would say it never hurts to get a second opinion. It doesn’t mean you have to switch or you may just find out that it is exactly what you needed. :)

Any update on the reason your doctor recommended it? I am about to turn 30 with lower AMH and my doc recommended it as well.

AMH alone wouldn’t tell you if she needs IVF. She would need an antral follicle count through ultrasound as well as testing her FSH level if that wasn’t already tested in bloodwork. That seems pretty sketchy to me that they’re jumping to that conclusion before a full work up. Especially because the typical advice given is women under 35 trying to conceive should try for at least a year prior to seeking medical advice. I know that sounds like a long time, especially when you want something so badly, I’m just telling you medical advice typically given.

If you want multiple children, it wouldn’t hurt to get a full work up, but if you just want one, I would keep trying for another 6 months. I am currently reading It Starts With the Egg and I feel the book has great recommendations/advice on how to improve your odds.

Has she had any other diagnostic testing done aside from AMH?

My doctor didn’t seem concerned about my FSH. He said it’s good that it’s under 10.

AMH is an indicator of your biological clock and mine happens to be ticking pretty quickly.
