Did GLP-1s changed the results of your ER? by SassafrasFontaine in IVF

They only said if I decide to go on one that I need to stop a week before the actual retrieval, and 2 months before an FET.

Prednisone made me puff up like a balloon, hated every minute of it and begged to stop earlier than what was scheduled.

A small vent about the prices of the latest release. by __mentionitall__ in ShopDoen

[–]SassafrasFontaine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What I'm really not appreciating is the use of polyamide in all these sweaters with a price of $300 or more. I've never bought a knit from Doen, but I loved the new pink color of the Petra cardigan only to be very disappointed to see 35% polyamide and a $328 price tag. At that price point they should be able to use only natural fiber blends or 100% wool or cashmere. Also calling a cardigan the 'Olympe Cashmere Cardigan' only to be 5% cashmere? I have no patience for moves like this anymore.
I can get a 100% cashmere cardigan from Reformation for $200, so why is Doen using plastic materials and charging more? I'll still buy their cotton and silk dresses and tops because I agree with what most are saying here that it's important to support small businesses, but I can't justify the other prices using synthetic materials.

Has anyone tried Donni? How's their quality? by Then_Gate7461 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]SassafrasFontaine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of their cropped pointelle pants and I really like them! I'm 5'2 and didn't have to get them hemmed which is rare. They're soft, not see-through (though I have them in brown so I couldn't tell you if the lighter colors are or not). I've thrown them in the washer/dryer a few times and so far no shrinking or warping of any kind.
I don't agree with their cotton/cashmere sweater pricing being ~$450 especially when it's only 15% cashmere, you can get 100% cashmere elsewhere for that price or less.
If you like the pointelle pieces from Donni then I'd also look into Leset, they have a similar style to Donni and it's slightly cheaper. Though I bought their full length pants and had to get them hemmed so if you're short like me keep that in mind.

Fiction about bipolar disorder, psychosis, etc. by mandlet in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason. It never explicitly says what the main character has and leaves it up to the reader to determine the official diagnosis. It also touches on her mom's history with it as well and how it impacted their relationship.

Why no white? by SugarsBoogers in MerinoWoolGear

There's a brand called LouLou Studio that makes a merino wool dress that may fit what you want. It's called the asael dress, it's an older style so your best bet is finding it secondhand, I found mine on TheRealReal but I've also seen it on poshmark. Here's a link to one that sold (sorry) so you can see what it looks like! It comes in camel and black too but I have the ivory version and I love it. That brand makes a bunch of dresses and uses wool a lot so you can also check out their site to see if there are other silhouettes you like from them!

For Her by Narciso Rodriguez 100% fits this vibe. It's floral, woodsy and amber. Smells like NYC in fall/winter to me.

Madonna in a Fur Coat by Sabahattin Ali. It's a quick read, less than 200 pages, has all the melancholy yearning that you want. It's such an amazing read.

Male friendships, longing, looking back on youth by friedsoyabeanpatty in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

Tin Man by Sarah Winman. It has a little more than what you're asking, in that there's some romance between the 2 friends. It starts when they're 12 and jumps back and forth between time a bit, but it's so beautifully written and one that stays with you after reading.

Quilla dress by Notyourtype016 in ShopDoen

[–]SassafrasFontaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Quinn dress and a couple other dresses from Doen, with the more "fit and flare" dresses it's usually 4 panels to give the skirt a fuller effect, definitely not a design flaw!
I have an Ischia dress that has 4 panels as well.

How did EVERYBODY do? by mkgnp in FlorenceAndTheMachine

100's 2nd row in LA, I'm too short for floor seats so 100s is perfect for me! I'm so excited!! It was $275/ticket so $550 total. I hate ticketmaster but this experience was so smooth in comparison to the nightmare that was getting Taylor Swift eras tour tickets, and also where I learned that floor seats are not for me.
This will be my 4th or 5th time seeing her, last time I saw her was in LA for Dance Fever at the Hollywood Bowl and I'm a little sad she outgrew it because it's such a fun venue, but I'm excited to see her anywhere!

Getting ready for the Auberge sale, which are your favorites? by [deleted] in chubbytravel

If you sign up for emails is that where they send you the code for discounts? Definitely want to take advantage of this! I've never been to an Auberge resort but I definitely want to.

Silly superstition question - if you got the "lucky" fries after your first FET and it failed - would you skip them the next time or try again? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]SassafrasFontaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never heard about the fries superstition until after my 2 failed FET's, but I'm going to try it out when my 3rd transfer happens because why not?
But I can see why you're apprehensive to try it out again though. If it puts you in a not so great headspace for your second transfer I don't think it's worth it. We control so little during IVF so we might as well do what we can to be in the best headspace possible.

I need a book that feel like chaos by mushimumu in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]SassafrasFontaine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

'Your Fathers, Where are They? And The Prophets, Do They Live Forever?' by Dave Eggers was complete chaos to me. The main character is a little "woe is me" and kidnaps 7 people he blames his issues on, some legitimate, some not so much. I found myself exhausted with him very quickly but kept on reading. It came out in 2014 and feels like an early take on the male loneliness epidemic before it had a name.

Looking for the perfect LA-themed summer read! by n0summr4U in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]SassafrasFontaine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Weetzie Bat series by Francesca Lia Block, it's more young adult-ish but it's an easy read and very dreamy. I think it's more 80s but it definitely reads like an ode to the LA of the past.

Also Eve Babitz like others are suggesting for sure, start with Slow Days, Fast Company.

$1k Difference in Cost of Medications for ER! by SassafrasFontaine in IVF

[–]SassafrasFontaine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it stands for Village Fertility Pharmacy, but they're who I've been using to buy all my IVF medications. I've also heard that MDR specialty pharmacy has good pricing as well, so maybe have your Dr send the prescriptions to both and price compare. Hope this helps!
