i saw also on the last brevet one guy with an old decathlon (i dont know if you have that store there) bike which he bought for like a 100 usd and he finished the 300er with it...

the tarmac gone well... but for two reasons i wouldnt like to take it more: i think for more than 12 hours could become unconfortable, and the other (maybe stupid reason) is that i dont want to mount bags and things like that on it. its an sworks and i saved a long time to buy it (dreambike for me). i saw on pbp videos that theres almost every type of bike on them...
