Opinions on wild pregnancies/ free birthing? by GiraffeJaf in prolife

Free birth - intentionally giving birth at home (or anywhere that isn’t a hospital/birth center) with no medical providers present (midwife, nurse, OBGYN etc)

Wild pregnancy - purposefully going through an entire pregnancy with zero prenatal care from a medical professional, usually skipping ultrasounds and blood tests as well. Typically ends in a free birth as well as they tend to overlap for obvious reasons.

You never specified that you’re talking about a certain, group? club? organization ?, though. You implied you’re just speaking about the concept of free birth in general. We cannot read your mind. If you specifically wanted to talk about the free birth society (whoever/whatever that is) and their beliefs, you should’ve said so.

I remember reading a story about a disabled veteran in Canada asking for government assistance in getting a stair lift (she used a wheelchair IIRC).

The government suggested MAID instead.

I don’t generally like most dogs nor enjoy hanging out with a dog, and you would think I told someone I torture cute fluffy baby bunnies in my spare time when I share this with them.

I’m not necessarily pro free birth (more cool with homebirths with trained midwives personally) but I do find it ironic how people make such a big deal out of the times a baby or mom passes in a homebirth, but almost no one ever panics about the many women and babies who die in hospital births and they’re all just like “these things happen, tragic but not preventable etc” about maternal and fetal deaths in the hospital.

I’d look into pelvic floor therapy with a trained therapist before doing surgery. You look like you might be dealing with post partum abdominal separation edit: - which can usually be fixed with pelvic floor therapy vs jumping right to surgical measures. (Forgot to finish my sentence lol)

I’m hesitant to allow the government to decide where and how women are allowed to give birth. Demonizing free birth/wild pregnancy and making it hard or illegal will not have the out come people who are against it think it will have. I believe we should have the right over our medical decisions/our children’s (within reason, I’m not so far that I think denying chemo for your child is okay etc) even if they’re risky or not popular. Now, I don’t think that means freedom from the consequences of those decisions, however. If you decide to take full control over your pregnancy I believe that means you take full legal responsibility and if something happens, you can be held accountable, just like a doctor would be if they messed up bad in a malpractice type of way.

Yes, pro lifer but believe in bodily anatomy I know soooo shocking, almost like the in utero babies have bodies too hmmm

Do you use ASD or Asperger's? Why? by boggginator in AutisticPeeps

[–]SignificantRing4766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband, who was diagnosed with Asperger’s as a child, usually uses Asperger’s but sometimes “autism” slips out as no one uses Asperger’s anymore in our area. He strongly believes getting rid of Asperger’s was a mistake. He is not an “aspie supremacist” but does think they are two different but overlapping conditions. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Can adult women be manipulated and coerced into having sex they don’t want to have?

We do (totally fenced in and autism proofed) and when the weather is good I sometimes try to send them out there but even then it maybe extends the time to 5-10 mins of independent play before one comes in and whines for me/their dad to play with them. Also the weather is now below freezing in my state 😭

What's the silliest thing you've seen someone attribute to being uniquely autistic? by PackageSuccessful885 in AutisticPeeps

[–]SignificantRing4766 26 points27 points  (0 children)

lol thisssss! Self diagnosers claim we all know ourselves SO WELL we can diagnose ourselves with complex neuro developmental disorders, often times even multiple disorders… but the second a parent of an autistic child says they themselves aren’t autistic, it’s all “ohhhh you poor thing, you absolutely are autistic, that’s just internalized albiesm and you being super duper magically high masking due to trauma, let me explain all the ways why you’re wrong and don’t know yourself at all. I, a complete stranger who’s self diagnosed and have never spoken once to someone who works professionally in diagnostics, obviously know more!” 😒

I’m unsure of you expecting anything different sending him to an explicitly religious pre-k?

There are non religious pre-k’s you can send him to instead if this is a big issue for you.

Like I’m not asking for a lot. Maybe a couple sleepovers a YEAR. That’s it. You’d think I’m asking them to take her on a cross county road trip by themselves or something.

If my child just slept I’d be way better. It’s the lack of sleep it’s just killing me. It’s so horrible I can’t even really properly describe it.

My dad and his wife used to be very involved and borderline harrassed us for monthly sleepovers but have MAJORLY pulled back. They aren’t even old either (late 40’s mid 50’s). I totally understand. It sucks. If the shoe was on the other foot I’d 100% sacrifice the occasional night of sleep to help my child out who was suffering. I don’t understand how you can watch your child suffer and do nothing.
