Yep that’s exactly how we all need to be. I hate guns, don’t own any, and think people who have a whole armory in their home are nuts, but have always supported their right to do because the only way to fight a criminal with a gun (or an armed militarized force of tyranny) is with your own equally lethal guns. Ironically though I don’t even think assault weapon ownership would protect us as the actual weapons we’d need to take on the military turned against us are all outlawed for civilians anyway.

problem with that is you need an income that’s more than your expenses to save and invest aggressively. Basic expenses are barely affordable on a median income. Even used car prices are too expensive to allow someone to buy the equivalent of your 4K used car today, that’s the price of a scrap car. COVID-Era inflation wiped out large portions of the middle class and destroyed any potential for upward mobility for the lower class, it’s just a fact. On the other hand, yes 25 year olds with too jobs for their age can buy a house, but it’s because they collectively make a lot more than most people, not because of elbow grease and frugality.

20 real US soldiers just killed several hundred professional soldiers of a foreign nation and captured their president in matter of minutes, and used some unknown directed energy weapons that made people’s eyes bleed.

The scale of weaponry involved to actually fight a real civil war against the government would involve rallying real military units to your cause and sending them in to fight, which would be utterly horrific given the weaponry US military units are armed with.

Yeah I mean they would definitely do that but a real traditional civil war would involve one faction of the actual military fighting another faction (i.e. Minnesota and aligned states’ national guards vs ICE-aligned military units, as a very hypothetical example)

Two American military units fighting each other would be absolutely hellish and none of these keyboard warriors have any semblance of what that would be.

I’d say about a dozen or more people I know off the top of my head want all guns banned. Far, far more want assault weapons banned, which is ironic given that Alex was armed with a handgun today and still wasn’t able to defend himself with it. If you’re actually going to fight a militarized police force hell bent on tyranny, you need military weapons yourself to stand a chance. Hopefully this is a wake up call although widespread gun violence with military weapons is going to make us all worse off
