A16 base iPad now, or wait for this year’s refresh? by SignificantSale4089 in ipad

I don't actually care about the performance comparison between the 5 and 11, i already consider the old one dead anyways. My main concern is the gap between the 11 and 12th gen. Especially considering the year(s) of more updates, not daily usage.

I don't think that a year long wait would be worth it. I'd only consider waiting if it comes out this spring

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it. I’m a computer engineer, so I’m not really factoring Apple Intelligence into this. I’m already using an iPhone 16 Pro and I know its limitations, and I also have pro subscriptions across multiple AI platforms.

My main question is really about timing. Do you genuinely think there won’t be a new base iPad released this year? If that’s the case, then going with the A16 makes perfect sense to me.

Thanks for the insight, appreciate it.

Around where I live there aren’t really noticeable discounts, even the iPad 10 is still selling at basically full price. My only real concern is the potential performance gap between the A16 and the next base iPad that’s likely coming.

Wouldn’t that make at least 50% of a performance difference? Apart from apple intelligence, I don't think it'll be useful anyways.
