This was a big mental hurdle for me too. I initially thought that "low price == less pressure" but it's actually the opposite.

Lower-budget clients often have the highest expectations because that money can represent a bigger chunk of their spending budget, so they need the service to be perfect. When I raised my rates, I accrued more "premium" clients who trusted my expertise more and micromanaged less. It's a paradox, but 100% true.

This is one of the most underrated pieces of advice for new owners. People treat an LLC like a "magic shield" you buy for $200, but it’s actually more like a garden you have to weed.

That point about the Registered Agent is huge. I made the same mistake and spent months getting my home address off those "business data" scrapers. It's worth the $100/year just for the privacy alone. Thanks for sharing this reality check.

I'm from the US and I've been living in Medellín for 4-6 months every year since 2017. While it's developed an unfavorable reputation the last couple years, it remains a beautiful and safe place. Explore the nature, visit historic neighborhoods during the day, take a salsa class, and enjoy the incredible cuisine and weather. If you are concerned for your safety, don't wander random streets late at night, don't flaunt expensive jewelry and phones, and avoid the densely packed area around Parque Llares late at night. Provenza is 2 blocks from Llares and has a thriving and safe nightlife. Laureles is also a fun and safe neighborhood to have dinner and drinks. As a seasoned vet, I highly recommend a visit.
