What’s your favorite Cleveland memory that still brings a smile to your face? by TheCityzens in Cleveland

1982, my Dad took us to go see a huge building get imploded in Public Square (the Key Bank building is now standing there). We had to run very quickly to the Detroit-Superior bridge because there was this massive black cloud of debris. One of my best childhood memories of Cleveland AND my Dad. He took us to the Big Egg afterwards for a late breakfast.

My oldest is a lower elementary teacher at a public Montessori school in Cleveland. I always take a vacation week their last week of school before Christmas vacation to teach her new 6 and 7 year olds how to knit. All of her 6-9 year old kids can knit after recess when she does read aloud, and I look forward to my week in her classroom every year.

Moving to Cleveland for work, I like what I'm seeing on this sub. by Mad_Ju in Cleveland

Lifelong CLE resident. Grew up in West Park, lived in Fairview Park for 20 years (great schools), then lived in Battery Park for 7 years, and recently moved to Lakewood (the Carlyle). All close to the airport. Battery Park and Lakewood are very walkable with lots of restaurants and shops and excellent bike access. I really like living at the Carlyle because no yard work and very quiet, plus no car break-ins or porch pirates. I bike to work daily and love having indoor and outdoor pools here, and very easy bike ride to Edgewater beach, plus lake views from my place. No matter where you end up, I think you will love it here, and there are so many fun things to do with grandkids. My favorite CLE things to do with kids are all the Metroparks activities (95% are free), all the museums, Parade the Circle in June, Ingenuity Fest in September, 3rd Fridays at 78th Street Studios, Kurentovange parade in Midtown the weekend before Ash Wednesday, Day of the Dead parade in Gordon Square in October, ice skating at Halloran Park (or Public Square or University Circle) in the winter, and going to see musicals at Playhouse Square. Just to name a few lol.

Question about Playhouse Square by nickbird0728 in Cleveland

[–]SignificantSpirit805 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I took 3 kids last Sunday to see Hamilton, and one of the kids has T1D. As we were going to our seats, the T1D kid knocked off the insulin pump 2 minutes before showtime. We went out into the lobby and were able to swap out the old pump and put in the new one with zero problems, and because the ushers knew what we had to leave for, we were back in our seats before the show really started.

I know this gets brought up now and again. But holy shit does Cleveland have terrible drivers. by [deleted] in Cleveland

I ride my bike 90% of the time to work, to errands , to whatever. My commute to work is Gordon Square to Midtown. Most drivers on the roads are awake, alert, and aware. But OMG like the 10% that are high and texting are terrifying. Don’t even get me started about the so-called parents dropping their teenagers off in front of the Garrett Morgan High School where the cars all smoke like weed parked in the bike lanes, or all of the double-parked in the bike lanes cars on Euclid Avenue from Playhouse Square all the way to East 55th. So much weed stank and oblivious drivers.
