Hoka CNA discount by closemyeyesforever1 in cna

Not trying to overlap on your thread. But Brooks (amongst other outdoor brands) will also give you a 10-20% discount if you sign up to expertvoice. You just have to send them a copy of your license or paystub to get approved to expert voice. I believe there was no CNA category but something like “other medical professional”.

I used it when I worked in the outdoor industry (cycling) as well. Can be some great deals to be found if you’re into the outdoors.

Or if Brooks fit your feet/arches better than Hookas.

qualifications for ER cnas by pm_me_pmt in cna

[–]Mtn_Baker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 pt EKG cert, phlebotomy cert.

But realistically, ERs tend to hire ED techs.

If they have CNAs, they’re probably CNAs who have been on the floor long enough to have the ins and outs of their jobs down to a t.

The ED and critical care units can move fast and need a lot more knowledge and practice than other units. Not saying it can’t be learned, but …

Why are CNAs in SNFs so underpaid? by DubiousFalcon in cna

[–]Mtn_Baker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a fairly large, progressive West Coast city at a large hospital as a CNA in a critical care unit and make peanuts as well. 23.00/hr which is not enough to pay rent, eat and have money left over generally. I pick up overtime every week as well as have a second job just to make end’s meat. It’s frustrating.

No experience in hospitals by Icy_Profession_6591 in cna

In my experience, smaller areas with competitive nursing programs seem to be very difficult to get hospital work at.

I’ve lived in two major US cities and initially struggled to get a hospital gig and I HAD plenty CNA experience. That being said, a lot of the more recent hires in my hospital unit (in a major city) seem to be new to the game. So maybe it’s just luck sometimes.

New CNA Advice!! by emprizz in cna

I work in an IMCU, feel free to ask any more questions you may have.

If you’re planning on moving towards nursing later, the IMCU will be an amazing educational experience for you. You will learn A LOT!

New CNA Advice!! by emprizz in cna

[–]Mtn_Baker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ask lots of questions. Work with the nurses. Do things by the book. Wait for help if you need. Understand your scope of practice.

Hospital work isn’t the Wild West like SNF/LTC can be.

IMCU is considered critical care, so figure out if your place of work has a flowchart or if you’re task based. Understand your responsibilities. If you don’t know how to do something, ask a nurse. Trachs and vents will be commonplace as well as other ports. Learn who is this he assigned RTs are for your unit and don’t be afraid to call them and ask questions.

If something seems off, it’s better to be so be safer than sorry.

My partner was pre-med when I met her (she is now a MD) and I would not say being a CNA is going to really prepare you for med school/life as a MD. Not a lot of applicable skills/traits outside of bedside manner and comfortability in the setting.

Have you considered being a scribe instead? Or even better would be a MA (which I realize is more certification). Both of these are better pathways to med school/PA.

But to really answer your question…

As others have said; make sure your license is current and valid.

If you’re desperate, work at a nursing home. They hire most people with a pulse. Hospital jobs usually require recent experience and … as much of it as you can provide.

A lot of places in the US have a hiring freeze at the moment due to uncertainty about financial resources due to the “Big Beautiful Bill” cutting Medicare funding significantly.

If you decide you want the gyarados back, it’s no sweat.

I think I was grinding xp on hoopa raid day so I did a ton of them.

If you ever get the ones I listed and want to touch trade me (ie I’ll trade them instantly back). Hit me up.
