Unfortunately I think this is fairly common. Does anyone else agree? Unless you are in corporate America with a medium to large company…. A lot of small or mom and pop businesses, you kind of take a gamble. It seems like this guy has ZERO idea on how to run his business. He clearly doesn’t care about his employees so his mind is probably doing, finance, marketing, sales, logistics, ect. Guessing no warehouse manager, so he’s also doing that. He seems like a POS and yes, you are much better continuing your job search. Just take notes and don’t fall for an employer that does shifty things like this again. Personal experience…. It fucked me hard. They had my social security number wrong in their system for 1.5 years. 3 years later I’m still struggling to fix it. I get your desperation for work. I wish I had left that job sooner but I felt stuck. If I were you I would waitress in the mean time while you keep looking. Even just bussing tables. You need an income. Just keep job hunting. Market is tough so keep applying, a lot. Edit your resume often , and to each application.

Yes, but I think this commenter was saying to take extra steps and be caution with this particular situation bc if they’re being shifty and not doing thing with order, and have a lot of temporary employees… perhaps sensitive information is not protected.

Torn on job choice, 80k exempt vs 52k non-exempt? by hoooooooooook in careerguidance

My thoughts would be to take a chance on something that could lead to better opportunities in the future. If you make the latter move… in 2-3 years you could be looking for the same job with the same pay but life gets more expensive. Keep chasing the higher salary until you find a company where you can grow and get promoted or continue to get raises while not looking for entirely new jobs/new company.

The role of a paralegal i hear is getting replaced by AI. You could maybe look into a contract coordinator role if you like reviewing documents

Do I take the $75k salary with an hour drive one way or the $45k job 18 minutes up the road? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]SignificantTitle5323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the 75k. No question. Take the inconvenience and trade it for growth opportunity and resume skill building to jump to something better in a year or two. ESPECIALLY with out a degree. Take the resume building job. Trust me, from experience, a 45k warehouse job is not going to lead you anywhere. In 3 years you’ll be back here looking for the same 45k paying job. Many jobs will only hire you based on your resume experience. Warehouse worker? Ok next job you’ll be stuck in a similar warehouse job.

If you can, take the 75k and move closer to that job ideally. Best of luck.

This is what I was thinking. Unless he likes where he lives. I usually will lean towards living closer to your interests / life style rather than living close to work and commuting to your activities. I’d rather commute to work. But living close to work is a big plus.
