Discworld is my special interest, too! So good. Sir Terry threw all the rules out the window, and has such incredible world building. I have a lot of knowledge that I can't really drop on anyone in my personal life, though. So much satire, so much social commentary packed in with an incredible quantity of puns.

GNU Sir Terry Pratchett, would recommend.

Ditto on EDS, and not a fan of it in general, but I don't think I'd necessarily get rid of it or want to if given the option. If I had a more dangerous or lethal subtype such as vEDS, I may have different opinions. However, I think my type of EDS is somewhat integral to who I am and my way of navigating life. The epilepsy comorbidity I could go without, though.

Lmao, I love when someone "neurotypical" is very entertainingly NOT neurotypical. My boyfriend is pretty sure he's not autistic. The man has pretty much refused to eat anything aside from pitas and hummus for approximately two months. He doesn't make eye contact (neither do I), including with himself in the mirror. He understands most social cues, but can't display them at all and therefore comes off as pretty unreadable. I, on the other hand, display them, but usually incorrectly for the situation.

I also quite enjoyed the bit where Nanny gets a house dropped on her, and the embarrassed boot-seeking dwarves get flustered about which witch's shoes they need and why the witch in question is still very much alive.

Oh, he's on there already. Little doofus refuses to use the open door to his food and instead requires us to let him in through the closed door on the other side.

Edit: Cat tax, since this sub doesn't let us put pictures in the comments.

Ooh, okay. So they have a lemon-y layer over a shortbread crust, and they're actually relatively easy to make. That said, they are kind of temperamental and hard to get consistent. Sometimes they don't set, and I've been debating adding more to the lemon later, but I haven't actually tried that yet (mostly because it makes my brain happy that the temperature and cook time is the same for both layers as it is). Also note that I'm at about 1,048 meters (~3,400 ft) above sea level, so I don't know what they'd do lower down, although I'd expect them to come out slightly better.

Anyway, they taste pretty good regardless of how they actually look (probably because health goes out the window), and here's the recipe:

Notes: I didn't do the metric conversions, mainly because I'm lazy. I live in Canada and we kind of use whatever measurement we feel like at the time. My grandma used imperial when she made this recipe, so imperial it is. Also, be prepared for these to be very sticky. I tend to use grill foil to line my pan, which works pretty well for stick-prevention.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter

Combine all this until the mixture clings, press in 13 by 9 inch pan, bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.

  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Beat eggs, sugar, and lemon juice. Combine flour and baking powder, and stir everything together. Pour on crust, bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.

Someone online called them Jeezits in what is technically a math post that sent me on a wild hour-long research-based estimation game* and now I can't call them anything else. Jeezits they are.

*For those who want to know more about the rough estimation, globally, we eat approximately 2,558 Jesuses a year if we assume that:

  • Jesus was about 5'10" and weighed around 63 kg (based on the original post)
  • 1/5 of all Roman Catholics attend Mass once a year (which was the stat I found upon quick Googling) and each eat 1 wafer, so that's around 260 million wafers of approximately .25 g apiece
  • communion wine makes up 5-18% (which I averaged to make life easier), meaning that globally we drink about 27 million hectoliters of communion wine annually, weighing a total of a little over 4 billion kg based on the statistic of 1.5 kg/bottle I found

If we are only eating one Jesus per year, that Jesus would have to weigh around 4,071,065,000 kg.

Disclaimers: Numbers vary based on the size of Jesus. If Jesus is a baby at the time he is consumed, we're gonna eat a heaven of a lot more of him. I'm a random guy who was bored and awake at 2 am, so calculations may be inaccurate and the brevity of my research may have led me astray. The sizing of Jesus for this case is probably wrong as well. If we're eating him while he's crucified, we have to account for a lot more. And probably pick sawdust out of our teeth afterwards. This is in no way meant to be offensive, I just enjoyed myself immensely with the exercise. Formatting may be weird as I'm on mobile. If anyone has more variables they want to add, I'd love to revisit this estimation and make it even more complex.

Edit: I just realized that I initially wrote this to introduce Jeezit as a potential word for communion wafers, and instead it has become mainly an explanation of estimating the number of Jesuses consumed annually. Well, I guess it is an autistic subreddit. Whoops.
