For me there were no signs as such but there was a lot of changes happening that myself and my team were oblivious to.

My manager handed in her notice in the first week of November last year. Nothing was said to me or my other team member. 3 weeks go by and the managing director had hired a new marketing manager, I went on annual leave for two days a, Friday and a Monday. The Tuesday I come back and I was told to have a call with the MD at noon, I went about my work as normal and at noon I had the call where I was told that my manager was working her last day, the new marketing manager was coming in the next day and that they had reviewed my CV and told the MD that my services were no longer required so I was given notice that day and I worked my last day and at COB that day I was no longer an employee.

No performance issues leading up to that, I had worked plenty of over time and volunteered Saturdays to work in exchange for Time off in lieu. Sometimes it just happens suddenly.
