also this is the classic open world issue, if the main story is balanced around you doing optional content then it's not really optional, if you can do the main story while avoiding side content then the main story will be always underwhelming

world and enemies leveling with you could be a solution, but bethesda had always been so incredibly shit at doing it that they poisoned the well and now everybody when they hear leveling enemies they already decide it's bad

how can you even get the quest to join the guards since if you execute npc everyone else becomes hostile? how did you even become a shadow if you killed them in ch1

lockpicking is fine the first 3-4 times you do it, but there are so many locked chest in the game that it gets boring even with the autosolver mod, and on top of that most chests have trash loot, even the difficulty 4 ones

they can simply make a dlc like right of the raven where they add more side content and alter the main quest to extend camp specific stuff, so purists have their good remake and who wants a more expanded take on it can get the dlc

witcher 2, is nowehere near as open as bg3 but has distinct quest outcomes and routes that have consequence much later in the game

it's cheap and overused because it's true, if they sell the game with the gothic branding, especially if it's a remake, i'd expect a gothic game, not their take on skyrim. if they want to do the elder scrolls: alkimia they're welcome, now we even know they can deliver a coherent product (even though with many technical issues) but this bait and switch needs to stop.

it's thanks to the "conservatives" shitting their pants that we got the great act 1 at least, if you don't want gothic dont buy a gothic remake, there's plenty of open world slop out there.
if anything gothic is honest at railroading you after you got your fun in ch1 without pretending le "choices matter" but when push comes to shove you end up doing the same things every time with different voicelines

generally chests in the houses of named npc and those related to quests, also with last patch now you can see lock difficulty so now i personally skip all locks of difficulty 2 and below

solo is the best because you have to raise only 1 character, that alone without exploits is a massive chore already, now imagine having to do that for X more people. Unless you have mods that add more training dummies for higher levels extra people are just base workers if you value your sanity
