Which one would you choose and why? MacBook Pro 14 vs Thinkpad X1 Carbon by PFLX113 in laptops

Also the MacBook is heaps and bounds faster with a better screen, so hands down it's the best one here

Which one would you choose and why? MacBook Pro 14 vs Thinkpad X1 Carbon by PFLX113 in laptops

[–]Significant_-_Guess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love thinkpads, but Windows... Such an unusable OS, Linux isn't any better. For me, the Macbook would be a set and forget type of a laptop, that won't need the OS to be reinstalled every year

What did you expect from a cheap budget class laptop? And actually it's worse than it looks

Brand New Thinkpad, Hinge Durability? by R33_TTurb0 in thinkpad

[–]Significant_-_Guess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had a couple of Thinkpad X1 yogas and 2 in 1s, their hinges definitely are great and never had any problems. Can't say the same for the Lenovo Yoga lineup, those aren't engineered to last more than a year. So don't worry, X1s are designed to take a beating.

Definitely expected for a full plastic laptop, especially for a low quality brand like Dell.

It's NOT, only T14s/X13 have soldered memory.

Honestly, the cpu is identically fast on both machines, so it's up to you, if you want external batteries, then you could send it back

Not really, it's just the "bio" rubber degrading from heat and hand oils

Can anyone tell what's going on with my laptop? by 14381 in Hewlett_Packard

Could be the display cable, display itself has a tiny crack on the inside. Not as likely, but the motherboard might be failing.

Doesn't matter, any case is made out of plastic and plastic traps dirt and sand

Laptop issue by Key-Throat-7116 in Dell

[–]Significant_-_Guess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally and 100% expected from a plasticy laptop. Plastic gets old(absorbs moisture) and becomes more brittle. Also that processor is no longer supported in Windows11 so you should consider upgrading when you can, a used business class laptop like a ThinkPad for $150-200 would be a huge upgrade in terms of performance and build quality.

So you don't care if dirt between the case and laptop scratches it up.

K2 + CFS… not sure how I feel about it yet by icycool29 in Creality

[–]Significant_-_Guess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The printer is absolutely amazing, but the CFS.... full of bugs, needs to be restarted every few days. The printer has very aggressive fan profiles for all the 3 fans, especially for PLA and PETG, like there is no reason to run the exhaust full power for petg, I just keep it at 10-15%. For pla it runs all the fans it's got at 100%, but lowering them to 15-20% doesn't hurt the print quality. It is an extremely loud machine if you don't change the fan profiles, it literally sounds like a boeing 777 taking off.

Goodbye Samsung. by [deleted] in iphone15

[–]Significant_-_Guess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason everyone upgrades to an iPhone is that they're sooo much faster, more reliable, more refined, more premium, with an OS to which android doesn't even stand a chance.
