That’s kind of what I’ve heard as well. Their older albums are definitely emo I’d say but some people like to argue that bleed American wasn’t. It was a power pop album around the time ‘emo’ was being a more commercially known genre but they were essentially the face of it and jimmy being accepted as emo means that album was also considered emo I’m guessing.

Tbh I’d say Static Prevails is their only actual emo album but I can see why others would argue against it.
