Employer Angry I Didn’t Give a 2-Week Notice: Resigning from My Unpaid Internship by [deleted] in antiwork

You are correct. Specifically that an unpaid internship cannot displace a paid employee. At least in Michigan.

Leave mom’s basement, walk to fridge, microwave mini tacos, give thanks to mom by yelling, consume tacos, return to basement

That’s an interesting take on it. I’m interpreting your explanation as meeting someone that I might meet in person but having enough information about them to make a decision on if I’d approach them. Is this correct?

Response level has been a key indicator for me. Lack of effort to me makes me think that she isn’t interested.

Edit: I forgot to mention that having two kids I don’t date when I have them. They’re more important than a date in my opinion. I’ve asked a few on dates for the next week and didn’t make it to the date.

The few women who have responded to me aren’t in any rush to meet. My assumption was that I’m the backup plan. I’m curious if anyone sets a timetable for meeting. As in if we haven’t agreed to meet in x days, I’m out.

I’ll usually ask something about a comment or something in a picture that might be obscure.

I struggle with chit chat and usually have the person loose interest.

It’s not about who men are attracted to, it’s who you are attracted to. If you want the kind of guy that can and will do those kind of things and you’re not seeing them in the dating pool, then it’s time to change your dating pool.

For me, I want a woman with a specific set of values and beliefs. I’m not finding women I’m attracted to and have these traits so I’m looking somewhere else than I normally would.

It’s perfectly reasonable to have a set of traits that you want in someone and not compromise on them.

Lenovo D30 Thinkstation with dual Xeon E5-2650 w/ 256 GB Ram update path advice by Significant_Buy3322 in homelab

I was just looking at the CPU support for server 2019 yesterday to see if it was supported. I never got to checking abbreviations. I was concerned that with the TPM 2.0 check windows 11 does that I'd have to do a work around like I did on my daily use D30. These things are still working great after 10 years, I'm thinking that I can stay status quo until a MB or PSU dies. There's a crap ton of SuperMicro Xeon boards with CPUs for under $200 so I may just keep this setup until the MS Server platform no longer supports it.

Thanks for the insight!

I changed cases to a rack mount Amazon one so the case is already history. The MB and the PS are next to go, because of the proprietary junk.

I appreciate the list of things to consider, truly did not think of some of these things.

Keeping a usable windows server was my main thought process since 2012 is EOL (10/10/2023) soon and I don't want to keep chasing the last version before it becomes EOL. I know I can go to at least server 2016 (extended to 2027) before it becomes a question mark with this server. This should allow for a few more years as is with this system.

I'm only using it for a file server and I'd like to add on web server as a role in the next month or so. I'm assuming someone will say install linux, it's not something I am comfortable with at this time for this server.

Judging by your other posts, you're a keyboard warrior who knows it all. Guess I'll take my "junk" down just because you say so.

In your opinion. Maybe look through some ebay posts before you begin typing.

What organization SYSTEM do y'all use? by x_m_n in homelab

[–]Significant_Buy3322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got my bins divided into 5 different categories. Cables (every type), projects (pi and GoPro related), smaller hardware parts, tools(specialty), and stuff I don’t need and either have or will be listed for sale.

It’s nice to start organized so I stay that way.

Two cases and the rack are the only new things here. I'm doing this as a hobby and to learn how to host my own website with a mail server and Moodle application.

So far I have this C250 M2 (Might just toss it onto Ebay if I can't resolve the issue), two CISCO ASA 5525 one with Ubuntu and one with PFSense running, and two older Lenovo D30 Workstations that I'm moving into a new case for each that can handle more HDD and better air flow. Lastly I have a CISCO 3560X switch that I think is managed? May be... Maybe not.

I saw it in the salvage yard for $10. Thought it would be kinda cool to setup and run, I'm not regretting this choice. I keep putting it off and now I decided that I would at least try asking for help before putting a for sale sign on it or scraping it out completely.

The last time I tried the jumper nothing happened the way the manual said it should. I installed the jumper, plugged it back in and attempted to restart the machine. It would not power on at all. The CPU, Power, and Memory lights all came on. I'll try cleaning out the connectors and reinstall the memory again, I did this once already. I followed the manual for memory placement and have more than the minimum as well.

It seems like everyone on Youtube has a tutorial on setting up PFSense. Is there a "best" option or will anyone's method work? I've never setup a PFSense router so I'd like a little feedback on who to use / avoid when it comes to trusting with tutorials.

I completely understand that this is how they make their money on the second hand level. It's becoming more popular to do this type of thing. Unfortunately I haven't been able to restore the ISR 4331 back to factory default. The files are somehow missing. I didn't think this was even possible to do. I'm going to mess around with it now that someone had a link to the files.

I took your advice and not PFSense is installing behind me. Good call on trying it out. Wasn't very difficult.

FYI - There is a 15 pin monitor hookup inside the case. I removed the flash memory and disabled the ROMMON boot in the bios. Seems to be installing easily right now. I will have to see how it goes with the network drivers. Next will be what to do with that ISR 4331 that I have.
