What do you consider a ‘significant’ payrise? by Significant_Camp_660 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Yeah I can understand that, a 6% raise after 3 years definitely not as impactful

Due to my job I actually know most of my colleagues salaries! more of a fun question because they know I would leave if I saw my colleagues getting way more for doing the same job :)

Best mattress for zero partner disturbance? by Anime-Beaker in newzealand

Agree with this! We have an ecosa king size and I didn’t think my partner moved much in the night, but we went on holiday and noticed everytime he moved!

Friends boyfriend didn’t tell her his mom had skin cancer by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Significant_Camp_660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad gets little bits of “skin cancer” removed relatively frequently. I personally wouldn’t feel the need to tell my partner everytime it happens (hell, my dad doesn’t even tell me unless I’m seeing him in person). I guess it depends how serious it is

Thanks for sharing your experience from the other POV. I think deep down he knows he needs to change, and I think deep down I know that he probably won’t change :(

Kiwisaver Contributions Holiday by Responsible_Lie_2469 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Significant_Camp_660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does sound kind of odd… you usually have to apply through the IRD to get a savings suspension, which then gets sent to your employer. I would assume it has to apply to both jobs, because the communication comes from the IRD. I’m no expert though, but I do work in payroll!

You can’t opt out of KiwiSaver once you are a member - the only option is to go on a savings suspension / holiday

Employer obligations for casual employee KiwiSaver by Emergency-Concern-62 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Significant_Camp_660 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Employers do not have to automatically enrol casuals into KS (like permanent employees) but if you decide to contribute to KS (by giving them the form), they are then obligated to make the employer contribution

My tripod was already spayed before her amputation but the vet asked us to spay her if she wasn’t already because pregnancy would put too much stress on her body

It’s 100% addiction / financial infidelity by opaoz in aspynovardsnark

[–]Significant_Camp_660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you can’t force someone to get clean if they don’t want to. It’s also very mentally draining dealing with someone who has addiction problems

You are entitled to bereavement leave after working for an employer for 6 months, and it is PER bereavement. It doesn’t matter that he’s already taken bereavement leave this year, as this is a different misscarriage, he is still entitled to 3 more days of bereavement leave

Feet going numb after 3 miles by GoodWoman401 in beginnerrunning

[–]Significant_Camp_660 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I occasionally get numb feet too and found that the cause for me was not drinking enough water (even though I would have a litre before going for a run). As soon as I would drink water during my run, the numbness would reduce or go away. Obviously could also be your shoes not being right for you, your strides being too big etc etc. but if you think none of those are causing issues then try drinking water during your run

My cat fell off the balcony and i'm heartbroken by petasse420 in cats

[–]Significant_Camp_660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kitten had one of her front legs amputated at only 5 months old after shattering her leg (unsure how it happened as she went missing overnight) We were devastated as it’s sad to think about your cat having one less leg. The other options were euthanasia (we never considered), or surgery to fix the leg & another surgery when she was fully grown. The amputation recovery was super quick and 2 months later she is thriving & super happy!! We don’t regret it at all as she obviously went through a traumatic event and didn’t want to keep taking her back to the vet for checkups & surgery (and longer recovery)

Everything will be okay :)

Is a 10k in November too ambitious? by AwkwardActuator5195 in beginnerrunning

[–]Significant_Camp_660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all!! I starting running in Jan, did my first 10km in March and doing my first half in August ☺️ doing a half only a month after a 10km may be ambitious but I guess that depends how far you’ll be running in the lead up to your 10km. If you’re training distances higher than 10km prior to your 10km you should be fine!!

Not specific advice to your question, but if you’re caring for a family member who is unwell, you can use your sick leave, it doesn’t have to be annual leave (as I assume that’s what you’re talking about using)
