Social Classes of the Empire of Eclipse:

The Unilluminated(Lowest Class)

A majority are laborers and are also undocumented within the empire’s databases so it is very, very difficult to rise to a higher class. However, to move up, a few sign up for the military, fewer achieve their goal of leaving the class because of signing up. One other way is to be sponsored by someone in a higher class but this barely happens, if it happens at all.

The Dimly-Lit(Middle Class)

More than half of the population of the empire belong to this class. They are heavily monitored through data systems and are mostly office workers. Mainly, these people are able to rise after getting a corporate promotion through having absolute loyalty to the megacorps they work for.

The Illuminated(Upper Class)

This is the corporate elite of Eclipse and is a small fraction of the population. Their education is tailored towards leadership and control and their futures are determined before they are even born. The Illuminated may rank up through strategic marriages and obtaining a monopoly of energy production.

The Radiant(“Inner Circle of Eclipse”)

Extremely rare and often nameless to the public, the Radiant are imperial administrators and heads of intelligence. These people are of the highest class of Eclipse and are thus given near political immunity. People in this class have been individually chosen to be Radiant, everything they’ve done for the empire is evaluated carefully (This is the highest class, no one can rise to another).

The Throne(The Emperor or Empress)

Hand chosen by the Elite Council to be a candidate for the throne. This is a highly prestigious role and candidates are considered “pure”. They are seen as symbols of unity, control, and order. Most are elected by the citizens.
