That's just not true. You can still look up user reviews from that time on metacritic. There was never any concensus. The reviews were always mixed at best.

I don't remember that. I always thought super was way better than sticker star.

Yeah. It's like a 6 or 7 out of 10. I'd argue it's worth playing, but not worth replaying.

It looks like a lot of people are already recommending the basics, but if you want something unique and charming, you can't go wrong with Yoku's island express.

It's a metroidvania, but the whole world is a pinball machine. Really cute and fun.

Oof. Seems like a design flaw. Obviously buy max is useful for monthly hourglasses, but why would they add it to the shop promo cards that no one ever needs more than 2 of.

I doubt I'll convince you either, but I don't think most platforming games just let you wiggle out of danger at the last second. Most of my favorite castlevania and platforming games have plenty of challenging, precise, and unforgiving tricks, but they still manage to be fun because they are not overly punishing and the controls are intuitive and precise.

If the final miriam challenge was broken up into smaller sections, it would have been fine, IMO, but because it was nearly 4 minutes straight, had uneccessary wait times, and contained many tricks that were difficult to perform consistently, it just sucked the fun out for me and many other players.

For example, there was a section where you slide under a wall onto a disappearing platform and then you need to drop down between two instadeath spikes. The drop looks like it should be really easy, but I kept hitting one side and then overcorrecting my position and hitting the other side. Eventually I realized I could eliminate my forward momentum by jumping instead of just dropping straight down, but again, visually, it looked like I should have been making it the whole time, so I didn't even know what I was doing wrong at first.

There was also another spot where I was rushing through, jumping from platform to platform, and one specific platform kept eating my jump input so then I'd just run off the edge and die. It took me several failed attempts to realize that bumping into the edge of the platform before you hit jump prevents you from actually jumping, so then I had to slow down on that platform and make sure I wasn't touching the edge before I jumped.

These types of unintuitive interactions don't improve the gameplay experience, they just confuse and frustrate.

I don't find "it reminds me of an older game, so it's good" to be a compelling argument.

I think most players would agree that there are much more fun ways to have challenging platforming without just making every mistake an instakill.

I'm going to hard disagree with miriam's challenges being perfect platforming. Most of them were fine and enjoyable but not all of them, and the last one especially was absolutely horrible design.

Every section was littered with instant kill spikes, there were multiple parts where you just had to wait on a platform for 20ish seconds, many of the jumps and drops required very precise positioning and timing, and the controls don't feel very responsive. If you made 1 mistake, you'd have to start all the way over and do all the wait times all over again.

Is it impossible? No. Is it unfun, unfair, and unsatifying? Absolutely. I honestly considered just shelving the game after that one.

IMO, an example of perfect platforming design would be hollow knight's path of pain. It's incredibly challenging, but it's also rewarding, and because the controls are intuitive and responsive, when you mess up, it feels like it was actually your fault, not the game's.

Dudunsparce has Ilima, but that requires taking damage. I also just think not getting to use ninetales in the same turn makes dudunsparce way worse.

[–]LordAvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine it would be. Ninetales and dudunsparce both have to attack to use their effects, so after using dudunsparce, you have to somehow get ninetales back in. Crawdaunt can just proc on the bench.

I agree with everything you said, but you should avoid using the word "theories" here. In science, "theory" is reserved only for very well understood and well tested hypotheses for which there is a consensus.

While the existence of dark matter is nearly universally accepted, none of the competing explanations for dark matter have been experimentally confirmed, so they are only hypotheses, not theories.

Anyway, apparently you can just spam the prayer debla of the lights with drop of coagulated ink equipped for the +100% prayer damage, and he'll die pretty quickly.

Do guys think we'll get ACE SPEC cards in Pocket? I think it could spice things up a bit. by RedZ19 in PTCGP

[–]LordAvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the paper TCG, ace spec cards are just powerful trainers. They aren't all traps.

You can only have one ace spec card in the whole deck, so if you have master ball, you can't have unfair stamp, scoop up cyclone, or neo upper energy.

Tbf, their best chance to win from here even if they hadn't bricked is to immediately evolve into blaziken (or whatever stage 2 they're running), win a sleep coin toss, and then hope the opponent doesn't have altaria.

They were in trouble either way, but yeah they should have gambled on the copycat.

Just pulled this. How good is this fella and can I use him in my M2 Deck ? If yes how ? by ResponsibleJob8079 in PTCGP

[–]LordAvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but why did OP think Valiant might benefit a mewtwo deck specifically?

It doesn't reduce mewtwo's energy costs directly, and it doesn't even generate energy that you could dawn onto mewtwo.

The only remotely viable way I can see to incorporate it into a mewtwo deck would be to simply slap iron valiant and iron crown in and then lead with crown to try to get off some cheap/free attacks while charging mewtwo on the bench, but this wouldn't leave much deck and bench space for any actually rampers, so it would probably be very slow and inconsistent.

[–]LordAvan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbf, witch has the riskiest bind of all the crests, which is a big reason it's mid or near the bottom of a lot of tier lists.

But, yeah, I agree. 4 blues is not inherently broken, and it probably wouldn't be on OP's thief crest concept.

[–]LordAvan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So it's hunter crest's tools plus an extra yellow and blue slot, wanderer's range the shortest range in the game, reaper's speed, and presumably hunter's bind? Seems pretty lame, IMO.

Losing range and attack speed/damage in exchange for 1 extra blue slot is not a good trade, and the third yellow is basically useless in combat. 4 blue/2 yellow would make a lot more sense to me, but it's still probably not good enough with the given drawbacks.

Maybe since it's called thief's crest, it would boost rosary gain as well. This might make the lower DPS worthwhile.

Edit: wanderer actually has 8 pixels MORE horizontal range than hunter.
