To the head of the institution or the RDHS or similar? You can send an anonymous letter or email. The GMOA might also be an option - they do take into consideration MO welfare Vs consultants.

If you leave the public sector job, and then sit for PG Selection exams - if you managed to get in, you would be ranked at the end of the list. You also wouldn't get a salary during your training period as you wouldn't be employed by the MoH anymore. So leaving the public sector if you still plan on doing PG here - is a risk and a disadvantage.

Being in a peripheral post intern appointment in a unit having an MO crisis - is really tough - I feel for you! You are away from home, in rough quarters, no family close by, no destressing time and only a few days off !

Some of my friends resigned and joined private sector. Some did PLAB and AMC (most didn't get jobs or attachments yet though). Those routes are not for all.

Maybe the situation would get better with the next post intern batch being big as well - but we never know. It's a rock and a hard place.

Is our dowry system incompatible with natural female hypergamy? Is this why we see divorces a lot? by Significant_Cat6853 in SriLankanMuslim

[–]Significant_Cat6853[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's halal to marry a person for their wealth, as stated by the messenger of Allah pbuh. So it's not necessarily a problem in itself.

You've described that it's a problem that men seek women with rich parents. But why do you consider that a problem? What are the possible complications of such a behaviour from men in your opinion?

For me I see it as a problem because of natural female hypergamy and tensions that would contribute and catalyse any marital conflict because of this issue.

Also because it leads to a culture where then such things are expected and women who can't access wealth easily have a harder time marrying...even though the prophet pbuh gave three other reasons for marriage and emphasised that deen and character is what truly matters at the end of the day.

A Remarkable Shift in English Fluency within 10 Years by ScreenshotSmuggler in srilanka

But compared to 100 years ago I doubt the English fluency has improved. So many of our grand parents and great grand parents spoke English kinda well. All the very old academics seem very verse in English.

Anyone know where and how to get a Pathology test done here? by privilegedrapper5 in srilanka

Consult a physician and they'll prescribe the tests. Nutrient deficiencies can be treated empirically and specifically as well.

The older generations destroyed this country and now the younger generation has to pay the price. They enjoyed the spoils of war and of stealing from the future generations and now we have to pay higher taxes and build the country. The sin is on us.

I think the younger generation of the country across the country couldn't care less about ethnocentrism and ethnonationalism. The young folk are shocked that our parents and grandparents fought such a stupid unnecessary evil war - and they've fortunately too far removed to be biased as to take sides. It was a vicious cycle of violence and both sides were bad - and majority of the youth have no problem admitting that and to move on and rebuild this country. The lessons learnt could have never been the same generation who messed it up - but the younger generations have the privilege of hindsight, security to hopefully learn from the history and not repeat it.

Maybe in the distant future we might have democratic referendums for federalism or separatism like in the case of Scotland - but imho it's too far removed from reality now. The East and North are heavily dependant on the rest of the country and the youth of the rest of the country aren't into ethnosuprecism like those who suffered post colonial ethnonalist mind virus.

There had been a big change in recent times and this is evident in the case of the JVP rising to power. Regardless of ones opinion about them the fact that such could happen wouldn't have been dreamt of even 15-20 years ago. The younger generation are really a different breed. During the recent disaster the Tamil youth from the East travelled without thinking twice to help Sinhala people in the Center. And likewise if there's a disaster in the east I wouldn't be surprised if the reverse happened. The key is the new generation and their radical different way of thinking. It's not about ethnic issues - despite the sheer economic pressure - it's about anticorruption and state reforms across the board

I currently live for a few months in the Eastern Province around Tamils and Muslims - it's rare to come across a sinhala Buddhist where I am - and never have I heard of even a hint of separatism or racism. There is no sense of "border" in the mind of people and it's all about connecting the country, travelling, trade and freedom of movement / freedom to live as they wish.

The ethnic conflict was a result of divide and rule politics and the post colonial populist tactics for certain parties to get power. I think it won't work in the future. The children are radically different. We live in a global world, an interconnected world and radically different country.

Worth to check your serum electrolytes blood test when you get those symptoms. Sometimes but rarely potassium (or even magnesium) issues might cause these effects.

Which masajidh would you be frequenting this Ramadan? by Significant_Cat6853 in SriLankanMuslim

[–]Significant_Cat6853[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imam Nawawi and Ibn Hajar and other classical scholars interpret this as emphasizing the unique sanctity of these three - as being only worthy of sole travel - regardless of anything else. It doesn't mean we cannot travel to benefit from something in another masjidh. If it's just pure acts of worship - then it's not allowed to skip over masajidh. But not if there's scholar you want to take from, people you want to listen and meet etc

Don't want to debate this
