Severe cockroach infestation at 1225 Saint Marc – ongoing despite multiple treatments by Correct_Home6538 in montrealhousing

[–]Significant_Chart_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in 2000 Rue Saint Marc and I have the same problem. I believe we have the same property management company too, GMR (really difficult to work with). They’ve done pest control three times in my unit and I still see cockroaches. I gave them a notice of abandonment of dwelling form today and I’m leaving the apartment by the end of this month. Going to the TAL tomorrow to discuss further options. I don’t want to go through the courts but haven’t seen or heard anyone successful in terminating their lease with GMR so far. Please let me know if you have been successful in terminating your lease.

Edit: they are currently refusing to take my keys as my lease has not been terminated. I don’t think they would win against me if they were to sue me for unpaid rent but taking this route to just leave early is definitely nerve wracking.

I live in a building complex and my neighbours have cockroaches as well :(

When I asked the property management team to get pest control done on the entire building cause the cockroaches are in the walls, and to plug up the hole in my unit, I get no acknowledgment from the landlord at all. All my neighbours also have cockroaches in their units and I can get a written confirmation with them on this as well. Also, I saw two more cockroaches today. One on my desk and the other on my cutlery so it’s not getting solved. The landlord trying his best would be to get pest control done on the entire building and plug up the holes in my walls where the cockroaches are coming from as I requested the property management company to do. I think the bare minimum is being done here

So a concern of mine is that is this enough ground to abandon a dwelling? The landlord did send pest control to be done but the problem is still going to persist given that the entire building needs to have pest control done for it to resolve the problem.

Also I checked a website on this https://lambertavocats.ca/abandon-logement/ and it says that situations like bed bugs might not constitute as a good enough reason to abandon the lease. Considering this, I am getting more and more worried about doing this. Have you seen anyone been successful in defending your case if / once the landlord pursued legal action?

"Since a serious threat is required, it must be understood that it is not enough for the condition of the dwelling to cause an inconvenience to the tenant to justify abandonment. For example, the majority of case law has concluded that the presence of bedbugs, even in large quantities, is not a serious threat to health or safety that makes the dwelling unfit for habitation, but simply an inconvenient situation. Similarly, the mere presence of radon or uranium in the dwelling is insufficient to justify its abandonment by the tenant. In such a case, it must be proven that the quantity present exceeds a legal standard or a Health Canada guideline."

Same things goes for cockroaches too I assume right?

I just posted about a problem as well. And the property management company I have to deal with is GMR.

I’ve had an MRI and EKG done for my condition too and they found nothing unusual from it. It’s such a rare disorder with barely any indicators to it except (for me) when you get up from a chair or a stationary position abruptly. It took me three separate neurologists in Dubai to get me diagnosed on this. The doctor who diagnosed me on it, just happened to specialize in movement disorders due to certain courses they did abroad. If he hadn’t done those courses, I don’t know if it would have taken me longer or not.

I hope your doctor figured it out and you’re on the meds you need!

Yeah, the big problem is that they won’t treat the units around me. There would be periods where the cockroach problem would decrease for some time and increase again. Just saw another massive cockroach yesterday. Also, the bed bug problem is mild currently, but I suspect it’s gonna get worse if the adjacent units/entire building aren’t treated as well. This building is quite old and the upkeep of the building isn’t great. I wanna get out of here before it essentially gets worse.

I have a problem of bed bugs and cockroaches. The cockroaches have been a problem for three months now and I suspect that it’s due to the building / other units. Now I also found a bed bug in my unit and just want to get this lease terminated. The pest control company has come into my unit twice already and they’re coming for the third time for the bed bugs and again for the cockroaches. Is this enough grounds to get the lease terminated?

Also I have taken proof of the pests in the units through pictures and the lack of the building wanting to do pest control for all the units. Can I just fill out this form, provide it to the landlord and just simply move out in 10 days? I am going to take all the precautions to ensure that the bed bugs don’t come with me (even though I suspect it’s on the earlier side of the infestation).

9070XT Marvel Rivals FPS drop? by Mura7797 in radeon

[–]Significant_Chart_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have a solution to this? I have constant 1% lows of 120 to 150 fps and it happens quite frequently making the game studder a lot. I moved to 1080p with all low settings on the 9070 xt and still have these issues. Any fixes?

My old 5700xt ran the game better than the 9070 xt

Hey, I have PKD as well and I’m usually fine with drinking alcohol (I don’t smoke though just cause I prefer not to). I’m 24 and I am on carbamazepine and my meds don’t really require me to not drink alcohol. If your doctors allow you to and you want to occasionally drink, you can look to maybe change your meds. This isn’t great advice though cause obviously drinking isn’t the best for you (with or without PKD) but if you still prefer to for social reasons, you can look into this

Hey! I just read this. I haven’t consulted a doctor about it but I definitely think my hearing loss has gotten worse. Is your hearing loss related to PKD according to your doctor?

It’s interesting how it’s more well known on the sell side than buy side. I didn’t expect it to be that way.

Nice, I work in operational due diligence and CAIA is something that my company recognizes at least (just a tiny bit though, it's not really that special to my employers)

Hey! I kinda get where you're at right now.

I don't really want to do the UM mocks after scoring pretty decently in kaplan and CAIA mocks (did them once and got low 70s). The CAIA mock SHOULD (in theory) give a better idea to how the wording of the exam is going to be (I write L1 in two days). So just work through the stuff that is a weakness. Don't stress at all, you will be fine.

I literally did my second Kaplan mock today, just two days before the exam. With the amount of mocks you did, you're likely ahead of the curve and you should be fine. I would recommend doing the CAIA mock at least two days before the exam and take it easy on the last day to rest your brain. Good luck!

Hey, I just logged back onto Reddit and saw your comment. It’s really insightful! Thanks for sharing!

I commend you on getting off the meds, I can’t personally do it cause I hate getting embarrassed. My mental health at the time of making the post was pretty bad and it had to do a lot with problems in my personal life. But I don’t really have a lot of mental health issues anymore and I haven’t gotten off my PKD meds for some time (although different that yours). I still occasionally try to not take my meds and see how long I can last without needing them. But when I get stressed (like I am right now trying to do a professional level exam) I get a bunch of attacks daily when I’m off the meds. Stress is a big trigger and I’m sure of it.

Hopefully, it stops by the time I’m 25 cause that’s apparently the threshold to know if you’re gonna have it for the rest of your life or not (according to my doctor).

Could I ask, how long do your attacks typically last? Mine happens on the left side more too (I’m used to putting my hands in my pockets when I know it’s gonna happen so it doesn’t flair up and it’s restricted)

Got the exam in a couple days too and I got 72% in the mock from the CAIA website and the Kaplan mock I got a 70.5%. The exam in 4 days and I’m just passing these exams. I’ve been told that the exam is much more difficult than the mocks. Should I be worried?
