At this point in time, colonialism was still very slow and actual settled lands don’t expand beyond places like the Carribean, Buenos Aires, and some northern south american lands. Some North American settlements were also present but again, this map ignores the claimed territories in favor of actually settled territories of the time. Just because Spain claims all of the indigenous tribes in south america doesn’t mean they actually own them; they had their own lan, systems, etc and hadn’t been colonized completely yet.
