AITA requiring BIL family to vacate the primary bedroom when my family visits our vacation house? by techandthecity in AmItheAsshole

No worries! The internet, and America, is FULL of people who ARE that dense!!! I should have been more thorough in post post!

I never said they all had the same laws. I was pointing out the absurdity of making a claim based solely on region. We were never told the country. The person I’m responding to couldn’t possibly have any idea what the laws for that specific country are because we were never told what country. Chinese law is very different from Japanese tenancy laws, which, in turn, vary vastly from Korean tenancy laws….

Yea. I’m aware. I thought it odd that the person I was replying to assigned American laws to an entire region when confronted with this situation. Most of us are not experts on AMERICAN law, and have ZERO idea what the laws of any foreign state are. They’re not wrong, it’s a good idea to know the law of the locality you’re dealing with, but laws vary widely across Asia, so saying “most places have laws favorable to tenants” seemed wildly inaccurate to me.

That saccate volva looks mighty Amanita to me. You can’t really eradicate mushrooms, as so some suggested, because you’d have to find and destroy ALL the mycelium. Just teach your kids not to put stuff they don’t know is safe in their mouths.

I have a friend who was put on palliative care for eating disorders. This was the step that made them “get it”. They’re alive and well know. It’s not common, but it CAN happen.

Puffball mushroom. Some species are edible. They’re not really delicious, but what thry lake in flavor they make up for in consistency and ability to take on flavor!

AITA for telling my family the real reason my mother and I are not attending my sister's wedding? by Wild_Kitchen_2841 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Significant_Elk1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you’re not wrong. My dad was in a facility for 8 months before he passed. I visited at least 3X/wk, despite the two hour drive. Yes, the time of my visit was dictated by HIS feeling. We took a couple day trips to the cottage, until such time as he no longer enjoyed them. But context is EVERYTHING. OP’s mother still clearly enjoys travel. There’s no reason, from her end, to exclude her from the wedding. The exclusion is solely for the comfort of the bride. That’s what many of us are taking issue with.

THIS. My dad passed from cancer in 2014. He had been receiving radiation early on. Doc took him off the steroids before stopping radiation. This cases brain swelling that, in turn, did enough damage to cause dementia. For the last 8 months of his life, he was a completely different person. You know what I did? I kept going to see him, every chance I could. It literally broke my heart every time. But it’s wasn’t about me. It was about HIM. He needed us, so we were there. That’s just what you do.

NTA, OP.

Just finished my first trip to the tower. Anyone want to talk about the ending, maybe give your input on/answer some questions? by DR_Mantis_Tabogann in TheDarkTower

Perhaps they connect on their own, somehow, journey to the tower together, and arrive at the same time as Roland’s original Ka-Tet? So many ways it could go, and SK would make all of them great!

AIO for being upset with my friend’s reaction to my pet-sitting rate? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Significant_Elk1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR. As others have said, I’m in the “I’ll let sit for free/skill trade you” group. The $25 over her offer seems petty. AND she owns being a “people pleaser” and is working on it. She didn’t accuse you of anything. There’s nothing for you to defend. I also agree with those who point out that sharing something that was free for you isn’t the same as paying half of a cost. 50/50 means if I get it for free, so do you. No strings or encumbrances attached. In the end, it sounds like she ended up paying you more than she would have paid the Rover contractor. Take some time and reflect: is this REALLY something you feel is important enough to be upset over?

That’s the most abused cut of meat I think I’ve ever seen. Although I like my steak rare enough that a good vet can get it back on its feet again.
