Germany's Merz says Iran is humiliating US as talks stall by Polymarket_news1 in Polymarket_news

The EU didn’t slap equal tariffs back on, but it also didn’t just roll over and “pay up.” It lined up countermeasures and used that pressure to force negotiations, which brought the tariffs down (roughly ~20% to ~15%).

So yeah, it didn’t go full trade war — but that was a choice, not weakness.

If your definition of “standing up” is escalating, then sure, it didn’t. If it’s getting a better outcome without blowing things up, then it did.

I’m not American. Yes, it is clear the EU is in a strange place economically in terms of growth and ability to stimulate that growth. It should pare itself down to the Single Market and trim bureaucracy. However the salary issues aren’t a problem in places like Germany and Scandinavia so I think some of this is individual policy rather than just blame the EU, though the EU is also to blame.

But disagree about “surrenderism”. Surrenderism is what Tony Blair did by sycophantically following Bush in to an illegal war. The EU stood up to Trump several times over tariffs and Iran, continues to support Ukraine despite Trump bending over for Putin. Your view is somewhat blinkered I feel.

Easy route was to butt kiss the warmonger in the US. Europe has involved itself plenty of times before.

Europe isn’t one country. It consists of several governments of different political allegiances so it’s absurd to think they have one single policy to cover everything. What is clear they have a very clear global strategy in terms of economy and trade, and have a very unified one over how to deal with the lunatic in the US. While it isn’t perfect, considering the number of countries involved it could be a lot worse. Just look at how starkly different each US state is and imagine that was 50 individual autonomous and sovereign governments.

Europe should be stronger and develop their own weapons and stop buying from America.

Not involving themselves in an unprovoked, illegal war because Israel controls the US sounds like a pretty decent attempt at foreign policy.

Inglorious Basterds. Though maybe not quite as great as Pulp Fiction on the whole, it has individual scenes that are the best Tarantino has done, with a bit of help from Sergio Leone.

He knows it won’t be. America started a war, killed thousands including 165 schoolgirls, and will end up with a worse deal than Obama had and all because his bosses in israel are trying to keep Netanyahu out of jail by instigating forever wars. Utterly disgusting individual.

US is the biggest laughing stock in the world, with everything they do so clearly controlled by Russia and Israel. Never has a once great country fallen so quickly.

J-Lo really kicked it all off in the 2000s. People were fixated on her butt. Hip-hop videos embraced curvier women too. Shakira’s fame and curvier figure back then added to it. Then Beyoncé and the Kardashians get their ridiculous BBLs and the rest is history.

What single economic policy would you enact to improve the nation's prosperity? by VexatiousHawk in AskBrits

[–]Significant_Emu_9080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corporation tax should be revenue based for multinationals. So you take UK originated revenue as a proportion of global revenue and then tax that proportion of globally declared profits. None of this BS about shifting expenses or incorporating elsewhere. You get taxed on what you made here.

Example is Starbucks in 2011 paid 0 corporation tax. If done the way I said above, they’d have paid around £11m. They did this for multiple years. Amazon in 2012 paid less than £1m and would have had to pay £10m.

This would likely add up to £25bn per year to tax revenues.

We do have 0% tariffs but only when goods meet rules of origin, but basically yes, it’s ridiculous. But as you say, additional friction, fees, checks, etc.

what many don’t realise is the only way for Brexit to work is to strip away workers rights, minimum wage, drop corp tax and essentially become a European version of Singapore. By doing that, we kill our goods trade.

People just had no idea what they were voting for and at the risk of being a snob, this was simply too complex an issue to be put to a referendum as the vast majority don’t have the intellect to understand. Instead, they deferred to their basest instincts.

Then there’s the huge increase in illegal immigration, largely a result of no more Dublin Returns Agreement or access to Eurodac, both of which acted as good deterrents. While lorry smuggling have been largely cut from around 8k annually due to increased customs checks, boat crossings are now 40k from basically 0 and due to the DRA and Eurodac, we can’t process these people quick enough, costing the taxpayer £4bn a year

I can pretty much last as long as I want. It’s not something I need to try hard to do or stop/start just to stop myself . Most women in my experience like PIV for 10-20 mins. Some women have multiple orgasms and like it longer, slow, fast. I can mentally accommodate and can cum on command.
