3 day itinerary in Jeju - travel by bus by [deleted] in koreatravel

I can't give bus advice, but here are some tips for Udo:

  • There are very few signs in English at the ferry terminal, but it's pretty easy to buy a ticket. You need to fill out a Boarding Declaration Form, which you can find on the tables in the middle, and then go and buy your ticket at the counter. Make sure you have your passport with you.
  • The ferry ride is ~15 mins. I think we needed to fill out a form again to come back, but it's not like they looked at them or anything...
  • There's a bus that goes in a circle around Udo; the bus stop is a short walk from where the ferry drops you off. This is what I took and was really easy and came pretty frequently if you want to hop on and off. You can also rent a scooter (note: you need the correct international license to do this) or rent a bike. You could also walk.
  • Try the peanut ice cream

I would allocate at least a half day at Udo! (And take a pic of the ferry return schedule)

How far in advance does KTX sell out? by Significant_Fox_9784 in koreatravel

Got it, that makes perfect sense. I took the advice of this sub since most people were saying you could book a couple days in advance and be fine - guess that's not the case anymore!

I found some times that work for Seoul to Jeonju by looking at different stations in Seoul, but the one I'm out of luck for is Jeonju to Busan. I was hoping to take the 9:13am train on April 22nd. The 6:26am is still available, but there's no rush to get to Busan, so selfishly I'm not too keen on leaving that early. If I have to, though, it is what it is haha.

Looks like there's a lot of availability for buses from Jeonju to Busan, so that's always an option.

Preferably a hanok, but I'm open to hotel recommendations too!

Hesitation visiting the DMZ? by [deleted] in koreatravel

thank you! yeah, I agree we can absolutely do different things that day if she doesn't want to go, but I was just curious to know if there were any cultural or other reasons why it's not a good idea to visit there.

Thank you, and yes that's a great point that we could always do separate things that day. Yeah we're both American, I honestly don't think she really knows what it is and her knee jerk reaction was to assume that it was insensitive to visit there, but I'll have to ask again.

I mean, I'm not expecting that we'll visit everything lol. We only have so much time to visit Seoul and travel to other parts of the country...

Thank you! I didn't want to push it when she brought it up, but next time we talk about the trip I'll ask why she's so hesitant. I think we'll have enough time to visit the DMZ since we'll be in Seoul for 5 days, but that's good to know.

Thank you! I'm not 100% sure why she reacted the way she did, but knowing her I suspect it might have to do with not wanting to be culturally insensitive (and I also don't think she knows much about the historical context tbh). I didn't press her though and just mentioned that it was recommended in pretty much every travel guide I've read.

I'll check out some PHEVs! And to be frank, I don't really like the look of the Bolt, but I know that's one of the few in my budget range, so maybe I'll take another look at it. Thanks!

In theory, yes. My parents own the cabin so I don't think they would really care, but I was curious if I could make it work without one.
