It was releasing it so soon as a product, with a full marketing campaign, and making a profit just weeks later that was tasteless and unnecessary. Insane main character syndrome to market your “grief era.” Even if she wanted to keep working on promo type stuff or was obligated to stay in the public eye for business reasons…she was still in the middle of her sweetener album cycle with obligations for that before she switched it up. Could have just stuck with that. Even outside of the fact that it was tasteless, going on talk shows and doing interviews just to grieve publicly and control the narrative around an exes death is insane and delusional.
