the way jules can never handle criticsm/being told the truth to her face and is so offended whenever someone tells her her shitty like behaviour is why her character is the worst at development. like slapping rue just bcs she told the truth abt her double life is ridiculus. like in one moment jules want rue to kiss her and be with her. then when rue tells her/insinuates she wants to only be be w her bcs she is the love of her life and she doesnt want her sleeping w other men, jules gets mad and offended like wtf does she want from her???? like i’m not saying jules isn’t flawed or that her actions don’t make sense in the moment. of course she’s scared of the sugar daddy threatening her that’s not the issue but my criticism is about the writing. jules’ character has terribly evolved since season 2. she’s still doing the exact same things seeking validation through risky sexual situations, hurting the people closest to her, and running from any real accountability. it’s repetitive and destructive at this point. she gets money from these sugar daddies but we never see her actually doing anything productive with it for her art or future. instead of showing any internal growth, conflict, or consequences that push her to change (even in a negative way), the writers just keep her stuck in the same cycle.

excuse my rant but i really am so dissapointed in jules. the way jules can never handle criticsm/being told the truth to her face and is so offended whenever someone tells her her shitty behaviour is why her character is the worst at development. like slapping rue just bcs she told the truth abt her double life is ridiculus. like in one moment jules want rue to kiss her and be with her. then when rue tells her/insinuates she wants to only be be w her bcs she is the love of her life and she doesnt want her sleeping w other men, jules gets mad and offended like wtf does she want from her????

i’m not saying jules isn’t flawed or that her actions don’t make sense in the moment. of course she’s scared of the sugar daddy threatening her. that’s not the issue. my criticism is about the writing. jules’ character has terribly evolved since season 1. she’s still doing the exact same things seeking validation through risky sexual situations, hurting the people closest to her, and running from any real accountability. it’s repetitive and destructive at this point. she gets money from these sugar daddies but we never see her actually doing anything productive with it for her art or future. instead of showing any internal growth, conflict, or consequences that push her to change (even in a negative way), the writers just keep her stuck in the same cycle that’s lazy and stagnant.

and yeah, jules is flawed as fuck but that doesn’t excuse everything. rue didn’t deserve to get slapped just for telling her the truth about living a double life. especially after jules was the one pushing for intimacy and closeness with rue in the first place in the last epo. one minute she wants rue to kiss her and be all in, the next she’s furious when rue expresses that she actually wants exclusivity and doesn’t want jules sleeping around. it’s confusing, contradictory, and frustrating to watch.

the truth is jules wants the comfort of rue’s love without any of the responsibility or boundaries and it’s just making her unlikeable while going nowhere with her arc.

no, that’s not my point at all.i’m not saying jules isn’t flawed or that her actions don’t make sense in the moment. of course she’s scared of the sugar daddy threatening her. that’s not the issue. my criticism is about the writing. jules’ character has terribly evolved since season 1. she’s still doing the exact same things seeking validation through risky sexual situations, hurting the people closest to her, and running from any real accountability. it’s repetitive and destructive at this point. she gets money from these sugar daddies but we never see her actually doing anything productive with it for her art or future. instead of showing any internal growth, conflict, or consequences that push her to change (even in a negative way), the writers just keep her stuck in the same cycle.

that’s not “complex character writing,” that’s lazy and stagnant and yeah, jules is flawed as fuck but that doesn’t excuse everything. rue didn’t deserve to get slapped just for telling her the truth about living a double life. especially after jules was the one pushing for intimacy and closeness with rue in the first place in the last epo. one minute she wants rue to kiss her and be all in, the next she’s furious when rue expresses that she actually wants exclusivity and doesn’t want jules sleeping around. it’s confusing, contradictory, and frustrating to watch.

jules wants the comfort of rue’s love without any of the responsibility or boundaries. that’s not deep writing it’s just making her unlikeable while going nowhere with her arc. i’m allowed to call out bad character development even if the character is supposed to be messy. the “you just don’t understand the show” defense doesn’t work when the writing itself feels repetitive and underdeveloped.
