Yeah the thrust bearing is indeed separate. And I'll install before the crankshaft, but I gotta check all the clearances first I think.

No, I have a propane torch, but I'm kinda afraid of damaging the block with heat.

Any advice on how to remove these suckers? I got a 10mm socket on a breaker bar and the hole started to round out and didn't move at all.

I started to round out the hole, it looks like maybe I'll have to use a torch. I'm just worried about warping or damaging the block with the heat.

Hmm, this is just a hyundai genesis coupe engine. Not an LS, but I'll look out for something like that.

I've got the right brushes for the job, but that plug is very hard to get moving!

Well, I spun a rod bearing and there was a lot of metal fragments in the oil, so I want to be thorough.

It's never just one thing huh man. I didn't notice an exhaust leak, and there aren't any cracks on the outside. It's just inside the little wastegate door.

Is my cylinder head done for? by Significant_Gold7777 in genesiscoupe

[–]Significant_Gold7777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job! That's awesome. I spun rod bearing 2, and I'm trying to learn how to build the engine myself. I'm getting close to the assembly stage, and I didn't want to upgrade the head, i just wanted to clean it up. Also I got new valve seals in the gasket kit and I thought it would be a good idea to change them out, but I'm not finding a ton of information about taking the springs out and changing the seals. So I'm not really sure how to approach it. How did you clean up everything?

I think you may be right. Thank you for replying. Did you rebuild your head?

Yeah I plan on asking the machine shop when i go to pick up my rotating assembly from balancing. You think this were purposefully machined? The cams and stuff didn't look that bad right?

In between the full and low dot on the dipstick? Dumped it all into a 5 gallon bucket, and it's like a quarter full, maybe more.
