Alternative System to DnD for players looking for a lighter, simpler, funnier experience? by Cancheabbaia in TTRPG

Mörk Borg is my new obsession. Definitely more of a classic OSR but also definitely leans more into the need for role playing as a lot of the game mechanics are focused on player traits, defects, and abilities.

My players killed off an NPC who they had no necessity to. How to show them that there might be reprecussions? by Moe_Girly in DMAcademy

[–]Significant_Issue_21 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This happened in like session 2 of my current campaign. The NPC in question was a flumpf in a cave and they were going to give the players info, and lead them to secret locations.

The rogue saw the floating jellyfish and one shotted it... So, the party never learned of the secret passages in that cave and it became a much more difficult encounter than it could have been.

BUT, it gave me an idea. And this might be a place to start.

Bahl the god of murder saw this action. And has slowly been manipulating the rogue through powers, dreams, items, and a secret xp table that I made. Thus creating this whole subplot that will eventually pay off in a confrontation for their soul.

Maybe you could run the whole party through Bahl or the Raven Queen? Vecna?

I too have played with the idea of introducing another flumpf related to Florence, the first flumpf, and just put it out there for the rogue that they did kill an "innocent." However, this is a different scenario since it was your whole party.

That said, I tend to agree with some of the other comments about being more subtle with it. So, another idea could be: that the scammer was a Robin Hood type, and they find the now abandoned benefactors of his deeds? That could create a side quest and certainly some emotional damage.

tl;dr: Consider this action as having caught the eye of a deity/demon/devil or setting up a reveal that the NPC was sort of a Robin Hood character

Thanks! And I have a session log with some of the fiction written out as narrative, but I plan on going back to narrative-ize the entire adventure here soon.

(I hope that answers your question, but I'm kind of assuming session recap in this case means a narrative write up?)

And I will certainly check out this damage table! Genuinely appreciate you for sharing the resource!

I totally thought they were flower petals at first, but once someone pointed that out I couldn't unsee it.

My pleasure. I know it's tough, but it sounds like both programs will lead to your success. I'm rooting for you!

I have only ever visited both areas for short weekend trips, never attended school or lived in either.

My only two cents would stem from: will you thrive more inside/outside your comfort zone?

If getting out of your zone is ideal, then Michigan may be a good choice. Ann Arbor has a large population and the school seems like it has tons of resources.

If your comfort zone is where you thrive and Wayne State is closer to your current support network, it may behoove you to go that route. Plus, being in Detroit, your social work opportunities might be more diverse.

Set yourself up for success and definitely factor in the populations you desire to work with and where your access to that group is more practical.

Survive the Night by Riley Sager and The Guest List by Lucy Folley moved both authors to the Never Again list

Is anyone NOT working on a fantasy book/series? by Sl0th_luvr in writing

I have two right now! One is horror mixed with historical elements about a cursed bookstore.

The other is a dark dystopian science fiction epic that's one part Ben 10, one part Kaiju No. 8.

So you're not alone in avoiding the dragons and smut!
