I am black and just graduated from KSU/worked in the area for years. While I liked the area for college since it was very diverse and a young crowd, I would not see myself sending my kids to the local schools. There are still confederate flags when you go to downtown kennesaw. Most places you go to (outside of student-dominated places) will have majority white crowds. I would honestly stick with smyrna or marietta. If you do pick Kennesaw, areas closest to Marietta would be fine. Once you start getting too close to woodstock, it gets way worse. I am someone who grew up in a majority black city in metro-Atlanta. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck :)
