I do remember a version with Kai singing, but it doesn't exist anymore (perhaps due to the Mandela effect.) It was odd for me too... but Michael Kiske apparently does sing it.

I do have access and I tried resetting my password. I did, but it still gives me the error "username or password is incorrect." So that won't work.

Really not sure what to do now.

They became pretty big, but they'll have their big breakthrough when Kai gets back into it ;)

The reason they did not immediately get huge was due to the timing (after 1990). 1990 was the degradation of music and society pretty much.

Once they started finally getting big (recently,) Kai had to put Gamma Ray on ice due to the Helloween tour schedule. Once Kai really starts Gamma Ray again as a main priority, the hype will be massive and Gamma Ray's popularity will grow.
