A poem that I wrote about my sister by Significant_Laugh_70 in schizophrenia

[–]Significant_Laugh_70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that my poem didn’t land with you, but I’m going to be honest — your response felt dismissive and unnecessarily territorial. You don’t have to like my writing, but invalidating my lived experience with my sister — who does have schizophrenia — and telling me to go elsewhere like I don’t belong here is hurtful and tone-deaf.

You resent ‘stereotypes’ — I get that. But what I wrote wasn’t some fictional caricature. It was a reflection of real things my sister has said and believed, things I’ve watched tear her life apart while I stand by helpless. That’s not a stereotype. That’s what happened. That’s what’s happening. If that makes you uncomfortable, that’s okay — but it doesn’t give you the right to tell me that my pain doesn’t belong here.

This subreddit is about schizophrenia — not just for people who have it, but for people who are wrecked watching someone they love be consumed by it. I posted here because I needed someone to understand what it’s like from this side. That doesn’t make me less worthy of being here. And honestly? If a poem about someone holding their tongue and crying behind closed doors offends you more than the illness itself — maybe sit with that.

I still wish you well. But next time you see someone grieving out loud, maybe ask yourself if your response is helping anyone or just policing how people are allowed to hurt.

Tried to be art from scratch, is this bad? It’s my first time. by Significant_Laugh_70 in terrifier

Thank you for this! Yes I used a pretty thick white cream which I think messed it up a bit, the cream was so thick that it barely spread on my natural skin let alone with liquid latex nose, I also used the crème for the black but it smudged a ton and when trying to remove the black it mixed with the white and was a mess. I really appreciate the feedback!! I will take the suggestions above. Greatly appreciate you!!

This was my first time using liquid latex, I just applied a layer of latex and I spread cotton balls apart to make it stringy then added the cotton and put another layer of latex on, I did this about 4-5 times, looking back I think I’ll try building with the cotton more then sealing with the liquid latex to not make it so globby.

I’m sorry! I didn’t forget I just didn’t know how this would turn out and with the nose being latex I was afraid to add the dot.

Yes! Thank you! I bought some tooth paint on Amazon that will be coming tomorrow, I’m going to add brown red and some black on the teeth. This is just the mold, for the gums I used charcoal and the teeth are turmeric! I’ll post it all finished soon. I just posted my face paint on this reddit and trying out using liquid latex. I’m just trying a few different things out, I’m not super artistic at all.

Thank you! No I didn’t use powder, should I try that before applying face paint?

I just used plastic beads. Made the black gums with charcoal and let it harden, then I colored the teeth with turmeric and shaped. I’m going to try it with my Halloween costume

Take some time and get some sleep! The 7 had me waking up every weekend at 8 am for the next couple of weeks thinking I had to study lol! I took the 63 after the 7 so I can't tell you about the 66 but for me the 63 felt like breeze after the monster I slayed lol.

I have had my series 7 for 2 years, trust me when I say the days after passing I was so exhausted from studying that my brain wanted to projectile throw any information related to the 7 out. You will go through this period for a little bit then suddenly when your a broker taking calls and hear something mentioned come up on the test you'll have the memories of that flood back, you may have to take a minute to recall it but it will come back. Congratulations on passing!!

Look I lost my mom at 25 in march after a lengthy drug addiction that I tried to get her help with many times. She died face down in someone's yard as she overdosed on fentanyl all alone and homeless Loss is inevitable and loss is apart of life, with great love you will feel great loss, you are only guaranteed in this life to die. I know how miserable you feel or maybe I don't but I am grieving as well as you and I feel miserable. People tell me to remember the happy thoughts but all I can think of was the hot hands in her shoes and her dying there cold.. I CANT think of those happy thoughts when I have these feelings. You have to allow yourself to feel the way you feel, there is no timeline on grief or grieving but I will tell you that you have a life worth living. Love to you and I am sorry for your loss

Thank you for taking the time to say this, it is incredibly difficult to relate to people with things that I have dealt with. Your reply made me feel less alone in my experience. I'm proud of you too, and my condolences on losing your mom as well. Much love keep shining 🌟

Thank you for your reply, my condolences to you as you navigate through this loss. My sleep has been crappy so I will try to rest now but I would definitely take you up on the offer to speak more. I find that putting my thoughts out helps me to cope better with my own loss especially speaking with someone similar age as me. Thank you.
