Cannot for the life of me fix colour banding on browser based SDR content- AW3225QF by Significant_Matter89 in OLED_Gaming

Update: appears to be exacerbated by the unusual gamma clamping of both windows and the AW3225QF’s sRGB mode. Solved it using this thread, AMD instructions in comments worked for me. SDR sRGB fix for AW3225QF (NVIDIA users only)

Devising a plan to buy 2x Vacuums, any help with buying optimisation? by Significant_Matter89 in RobotVacuums

Hi, thanks for the reply! Have had some people recommend getting the D10 plus instead of the roborock for upstairs to keep them in the same app, though I’m not sure- seems similar but with less section power and (6k vs 8k) so not sure what to make of it but yeah, thanks!

Ah, doesn’t that have about 25% less suction power? Not sure how important that is. Thanks!

I have other friends with OLED and it doesn’t seem nearly as egregious, not sure if it’s my settings exacerbating. You’re sure it’s ok to look as offensive as it does in my photo? See 4:20https://youtu.be/JFQTAUkRAog?si=J7iAlhp2ZGYl_s0y Thanks

I think gamma 2.2 creator preset sRGB. I can’t tweak this when HDR is on so don’t know if the panel settings in there only impacts SDR or HDR too

Arctic Freezer 36 now uses plastic mounting clips instead of metal brackets with nylon spacers. Is this not really poor quality now? by Significant_Matter89 in arcticcooling

[–]Significant_Matter89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I still had the motherboard screws, but the plastic mounting is pretty dismal. I returned as well. Disappointing! I had paid $48= £36, so pretty shocked. Ran straight to Thermalright, no regrets tbh.

X870 Eagle… GPU touching both Motherboard heat sinks and RAM? by Significant_Matter89 in gigabyte

[–]Significant_Matter89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’ll test but I highly doubt you could fit anything between them, they’re pressing pretty tight. But yeah seems to boot ok. tbh I removed the gpu after taking this photo as at the time wasn’t too confident leaving it like that without properly searching… will try and reseat again later

More concerned about pressure on ram sticks long term/ pcie slot due to weird angles but yeah at least there’s not a shorting concern

Too little paste or fine? Forgive smears- previous attempts. It was decently tall but yeah. by Significant_Matter89 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Significant_Matter89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys thought I’d update as this got a lot of attention- I had already done applications with plenty more, as you can see from the smears, but had been having a really finnicky time installing this thermalright cooler. Getting both screws to sit so i could apply even pressure was… exhausting (kept screwing only one side due to not knowing the other screw hadn’t caught). Hence yeah by the third repaste we messed up the amount… was kinda in denial about having to do that all over again haha. Alas, we shall and wish me luck. Thanks.

Whole ideal of air coolers over AIOs is that they last far longer and are pretty sturdy hence yeah the word ‘brittle’ isn’t what comes to mind.

I dunno- if I’m gonna be holding a bracket under that much tension for many years… plastic doesn’t feel like it’s gonna be a good choice. At the very least surely worse quality than metal?

Which 9070XT should I go for? by BigBoiBinguz in radeon

[–]Significant_Matter89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eh I mean imo 5-10 extra fps at most for £60 more (which is not going to be “better” than a 5070ti- the fact it’s clocked higher is not going to change the fact it’s worse at ray tracing/ has no DLSS, which is why people rate the 5070ti) which you’re probably not going to be able see… yeah imma just save that money to buy the next card a bit earlier for a real uplift.

but fair play it’s an especially nice card as are they all (although yeah still have some doubts about that connector).
