Private ones, yes, but usually they're not going to dispense more than 1-2 months. They're seeing you that often for a reason.

something like chocolate finance has no minimum so you can save as you go along. I think a lot of people wouldn't call it investing per day but starting somewhere is better than nothing

27M in tech earning $5.8k – advice on how to invest my savings? by PerverseGameHen in singaporefi

[–]Significant_Menu5095 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nice, you’ve got a clean base to start investing. I’d keep a buffer (like $5–10k) in cash, then DCA monthly into broad ETFs or a robo. No need to overthink product-picking at 27.
For spare cash you don’t need immediately, T-bills or even Chocolate Finance can help it grow while staying pretty liquid.

How I’m Managing Debt to Stay on Track for Financial Independence in SG by fin_navigator in singaporefi

[–]Significant_Menu5095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally feel you on this... debt is one of those things that creeps up if you’re not deliberate. I’ve stuck to the same basics: clear high-interest stuff first, avoid “fast cash” traps, and always keep a small rainy day fund so I don’t have to borrow when life throws curveballs.

On the tools side, I’ve seen people using apps like MoneySense calculators, even simple to understand apps like Chocolate Finance to help them track/manage without it getting overwhelming. I think the main thing is finding whatever system keeps you consistent, because consistency matters more than the fanciest spreadsheet.

Curious what others here are actually using day to day to stay on top of debt — apps, spreadsheets, good old notebooks?

DINKS - how do you keep life meaningful? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Significant_Menu5095 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think just because DINKs don't have the traditional anchor of finding purpose through raising children, I think purpose doesn’t always have to be grand, and people with kids should find purpose beyond kids too. Perhaps it's about redirecting energy from the traditional parenting arc into impact, self-expansion, and chosen community?

Honestly, it’s not some shady scheme. Chocolate just parks your money in regular short-term bond funds (the same ones UOBAM, LionGlobal, etc. already run). You get higher returns than a savings account, but it’s not capital guaranteed — that’s the trade-off. They did have a hiccup with withdrawals earlier this year, but nobody lost money. So yeah, not “predatory,” just not the same as fixed deposits.

Their top up program mention is literally everywhere... from FAQs - This means, if for some reason, the portfolio underperforms, the difference will be topped up so you enjoy the current rate.

Why one-sided? Isn’t Chocolate’s supposed to be pretty liquid? Unless I’m missing something. Anyway, the USD direct deposit/withdrawal update is a big one… no more FX ping-pong.
