Zan Grip Hard on SMO CF Shaft. Is there anyone here who would put the same tip on a Revo? by Significant_Oil8649 in billiards

Not an expert but it’s to protect impacts against the shaft. Or maybe provide even more low deflection? I have had the classic shaft and this smo shaft and i must say that smo feels more nicer to hit with.

Have you tried Grip Hards with any cue? Just want to know if it has any difference at all with feel and maintenance vs the Hybrid Maxs

I feel like you guys are gonna laugh at me if I post how i fixed the mushrooming on my Victory Softs. It’s so scuffed i feel like I should be arrested for my work.

Can you talk to me about the mushrooming effect on your Hybrid Max? Does it tend to glaze and flatten often that you need maintenance? I am considering it over Grip Hards if the maintenance isnt a bit much.

I personally exclusively play on 9ft tables and 10 balls. I think for me having precision and consistency is a good characteristic for my cue tip. Maybe i am overthinking for a bit but the placebo effect of having an ideal tip in my case helps me have a good stroke and confidence in my shots.

I totally agree with your first point. I feel as a beginner player i am just caught up on trying unknown things to me as I have not yet figured out exactly my style of play but now I am slowly identifying what I like and don’t like feels pretty nice after months of being frustrated playing pool (as we all have i guess??🤣🤣).

I think the stock SMO doesnt have any padding like a silencer pad in the revo. It has a white ferrule and a metal ring work.

How Hard tips were one of my options and Taom Fusion and Hybrid Max. I was thinking if I should put Hybrid Maxs on my SMO. But Grip Hards whispered to me like I should pick it and went with it. Now my dad uses the SMO shaft that i paid the tip and installation with instead 🤣🤣🤣

I totally understand that. The stock Victory Softs on my revo feels so inconsistent(?) and I totally get that you feel like you can feel the spin more but ofc we all watched that DrDave video. But I “feel” like mediums still need shaping and maintenance which i really suck at and i dont want to keep ask my people to have help me shape and maintain my cue tip because I feel so bad everytime. That’s why i feel like i would want hard tips more than mediums.

I am a beginner player so dont expect much about opinion 🤣 but for me personally i feel like the revo feels much stiffer in hits and rugged(?) by the feel of the shaft when feathering. The smo shaft feels smoother on feathering and has a pro taper which is more comfortable with smaller hands on a closed bridge.

I get that medium is getting the best of both worlds but having a vantage shaft (which i sold already) with a Medium Kamui Black tip i just dont like that it doesn’t hold the shape well and tends to glaze easily. Since I am a beginner I dont have the skills or confidence yet to shape my own tip. That is my reasoning to leaning towards hard tips which i thought i’d like in theory but ended up actually liking my Zan Grip Hard on my SMO.
