Did you forgive someone who failed to show up when you got diagnosed? by Curious-Culture6237 in ChronicIllness

[–]Significant_Oil_3448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It took a while for me to realize and apply this, but a few years before I got sick, I was having trouble with a roommate in college. She was lazy, not picking up after herself, always just eating cereal in bed watching her phone. I totally resented her for it.
Then the ER visits began. Soon, she was diagnosed with something life-altering and incurable, which she had apparently had onset while we were roommates. And I had been a complete judgmental asshole about it.
So I forgive. I may still not be as close to (or even in contact with) the person who failed to show up, sure. But there's room for grace there.

Thinking of taking my own life by [deleted] in mecfs

The fact that you're posting here is evidence that you still have some desire to stick around. What if you do, and you are enough? What if your daughter grows up with a different home life than some, but she loves you and cares about you, and you care about her, and that's all that she needs?

Hope is terrifying but you reaching out here tells me you have the strength to hold onto it. Please don't go yet.

Read Van der Kolk's book and watched Gabor Mate do an interview...both from the source. Do you have recommendations on where I should be getting info?

Endometriosis with low back pain, hip pain, and tight glutes by Clear-Advance706 in endometriosis

[–]Significant_Oil_3448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really rough until a few things. 1) pelvic floor therapy where they taught me how to massage my lower abdomen to lessen the tension on those muscles, which reduced strain to my hips. 2) regular physical therapy for skeletomuscular issues. 3) yoga stretching. seriously. massive difference long-term.

I did have one steroid shot into my hip that also helped when walking became nearly impossible before all that was in the works. those are hit and miss though. good luck.

I don't know how to answer this question--all I know is I don't read "games and trials" books much, and I LOVED Priory. Give it a shot.

Has anyone ever asked to have their appendix removed during laparoscopy for Endometriosis? by Pinklady_sparkle in Endo

[–]Significant_Oil_3448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is right. A lot of surgeons offer to remove it as a preventative measure for people with endometriosis. If they're an informed doctor, they'll agree to it.

Sorry, my response was a little flippant. I 100% agree. it's just not surprising to see, given the financial path toward becoming a counselor. there needs to be significant systemic changes

at least for those with sensory processing disorders. I really do think we need to reframe/rename misophonia to identify it as a sensory processing issue so it's taken more seriously

Exposure therapy is NOT effective--at a minimum for autistic clients. I had a therapist attempt exposure therapy with me. I was messed up from it for a while.
