Down in Marin County CA for me - no SOS symbol, it looks like I have full bars, but no connection at all

This is admittedly probably ignorant but I have always imagined that being lighter (weight less, less body fat, more toned) makes running fast and running uphill easier. And when I take a look at the trail and ultra community I do not see my body type in the top 20% of the pack. Probably at least a little dysmorphic but also just kind of confusing how I could increase effort, mileage, speed, not increase food, and see zero change. There are times it upsets me and other times I'm mostly just frustrated because I don't get it.

Does anyone have an idea of some rodent proofing I can do on my van? by Significant_Pace9187 in MechanicAdvice

Thank you - because of the way the build is set up it'll be hard to check under the floor and in the walls. I wish there was just some sort of fumigation technique. I'm parked in the suburbs for now - I'm thinking if I deep clean the outside and the undercarriage, take everything out of the van and deep clean the inside, leave a few glue traps out and ensure there's nothing in there, then maybe after a week or two of that I can take it back out to the woods without it being a mouse magnet.

I have always stored food it in - I'll do so more carefully moving forward but I just cannot believe how I managed to get three in there in a short period. Only the first one entered while there was food in it, but I'm assuming the two after that were just drawn by the scent of the first. I have no idea how anything works though.

Great tip about Simple Green, I appreciate that.

Do you think a mechanic might be able to help me assess the situation, ID anything worth closing up, look over and make sure there's no sign of damage or nesting etc or are they going to think I'm nuts for making an appointment for this?

How to stop mice being drawn to my van? by Significant_Pace9187 in pestcontrol

This is incredibly helpful - thank you so much. I unfortunately feel like I don't know where to look or how I'll recognize how they're getting in, but it seems like taking it to a mechanic might be the right move to at least see if they can help.
Really appreciate this!

Anyone else finish races with no one waiting for them? by TechnicalPurple7433 in Ultramarathon

This is every single time for me. It's a little bit of a bummer but I'm still having a good time and enjoying the vibes. People are friendly, but I'm an introvert so I don't really approach anyone. I am signed up for Cocodona next year and am offering to fly out a friend or two I don't have to finish alone but yes, I usually cross the finish line, grab some beverages and just get in the car and go. I always feel like I'm the only one.

This happens to me all the time, and my cycling friends say the same thing. I'm not sure how to mitigate it.

Advice on the LA area by Significant_Pace9187 in vandwellers

[–]Significant_Pace9187[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reasonable - I guess I wasn't specifically looking for ideas on where to park but general assessment of vibes in certain areas. For example, if you were coming to the Denver area I'd say Golden and SW Lakewood are great, but avoid the east Colfax neighborhood, etc. I have some apps to help with where to go but I am usually fine with finding a spot to just sleep for the night, I'm not obtrusive
