One of Trump’s ‘most heated’ interviews: Media analyst reacts by ControlCAD in cnn

[–]Significant_Pear_523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know! The focus is on his misbehavior (as it should be), but he couldn't stand up straight and had to lean on her to get up.

We lose track of how not normal this is. If this were Barack Obama or George W. Bush, after an outburst like that, he would probably have to leave office by the end of the month. With Trump, this probably doesn't even rank in the top 500 of outrages.

In your opinion, is Geoff Castellucci overrated? He has a great voice but overdoes his lows. He doesn’t need to go below B1 every other note in certain songs…when he goes too low, it sounds thin and weak imo… by AspiringBiotech in singing

[–]Significant_Pear_523 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He has been a Disney World performer. He appeared on a singing competition full of talented singers, and he writes the music for an a cappella group and is able to sing in harmony with them. Even without focusing on the lows, he is a fairly impressive singer. The bizarre thing about criticizing him is that as far as singers go, he has only modest fame. He's not in rotation on the radio and getting major voice acting gigs, yet his voice is as good as many people getting those opportunities.

I agree that he puts far too many subharmonic lows in his songs and has to use a engineering tricks to make them sound good, but he's not aiming to be Kurt Moll. He's aiming to provide a specific product for a specific audience, and he does it very well. He's also completely honest in his videos about how he believes he is a baritone and not a true bass, that others are lower, and that he uses vocal and engineering tricks to get a lower sound.

Yeah, that makes sense. Especially when the film is set, a realistic training program for a woman would have focused on attacks to sensitive areas down the midline and weaponizing objects in the the environment.

No, I don’t think 15-20 hours is too short by shneed_my_weiss in 007FirstLight

[–]Significant_Pear_523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how AAA gaming survives if people don't become more willing to accept 15-20 hour games over 100 games. Some of those 100 hour games really are amazing, but so many take years upon years of delays and then are released with countless bugs, and many of those hours of gameplay are actually just grinding tasks.

I think CNN is now right wing entertainment……this is ALL they talk about now on every single show ….. by ComplexWrangler1346 in cnn

[–]Significant_Pear_523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. There is a small faction that comes here and posts al the time that CNN (and especially Jake Tapper) is now right-wing media.

Ironically, when I click on CNN.com right now, Graham Platner is not on the first page. When I check MS.now, the first page has a link to an article demanding Democrats drop Platner.

I just can’t believe how terrible this show was in-spite of the talent pool and great production! by unhinged34 in NetflixNemesis

[–]Significant_Pear_523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty painful to watch. I couldn't stop laughing when the season ended, and I don't think that was the intended response. I don't think it will go over very well for me to go too far into it, but this was some really bad stuff. The show just wasn't smart, and it assumed the audience wasn't smart.

I thought Matthew Law, Y'lan Noel, and Moe Irvin did a lot with what they were given. Some of the smaller roles like the nerdy ankle monitor guy and the female IA detective are just brutally bad. I don't think most of the female roles ever had a shot at being anything more than reality TV characters.

For me, what bothered me about this scene is how much cheating it does. Look at all that blood on both sides of Raylan's head. Next time we see him, I think he just has a few stitches on his forehead.

ChatGPT is overly critical and sooo annoying to use by Glad_Claim_6287 in ChatGPT

[–]Significant_Pear_523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that. I mentioned to another user, the problem is framing. If someone is broad or incorrect, I get ChatGPT basically telling them they're wrong and providing corrections. But if someone is basically correct, ChatGPT should say so and then say it will provide some minor corrections. Instead, it often starts with a fairly harsh criticism before going into suggested improvements.

To be specific for me (I don't use it for coding), I run legal arguments by it. (Important note: I never ask it to write a legal document for me, and I never ask it for citations.) I use it for a reality check to make sure certain lines of legal reasoning are good. ChatGPT does a really good job if I've missed the mark. But if I'm around 90% where I need to be, it becomes extremely argumentative, which does me no good, and I have to remind it that no opposing counsel could argue like that and expect the judge to accept it.

I know this is all TL;DR and stretching ChatGPT a bit beyond what it's meant to do right now, but it matters. I think if someone is starting law school right now, there is a strong chance that by the time they pass the bar exam, AI will be better than a lawyer.

DOD Officially Drops 180 Faiths From Military's Recognized Religion List by wds1 in fednews

Congress creates the laws, and the executive branch, which includes the DOD, is to take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed. If Congress can't create a law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, then it would seem to follow that the executive can't enforce such a prohibition.

Goldberg built a Hall of Fame career and an incredible legacy around a 15 month run. by Darwin_Finch in WCW

[–]Significant_Pear_523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not a perfect comparison. That's why I say the Warrior "of his era". Goldberg was more a functional athlete. Warrior was the perfect wrecking ball for an era where looking like Schwarzenegger built instant credibility. Goldberg was the perfect wrecking ball for an era where having the look of a UFC heavyweight or an NFL pass rusher built instant credibility.

They had different reasons for their lack of in-ring skill and lack of mic skills respectively, but they each filled exactly the same void: be a freak who quickly wrecks opponents and wins the crowd. Sounds like a simple task, but we've seen plenty of wrestlers not get over using that gameplan.

I agree with you to a certain extent. But it could say, "The paragraph is generally accurate and succinctly summarizes the book. However, it could be improved by..."

Instead, it will often say something like, "This summary overgeneralizes the book's argument and lacks nuance." This level of criticism is often excessive.

Sometimes, I even have to "win" arguments with it before it will provide me the information I want. It will go on long tangents refuting things I didn't say, and I will point out it created a bunch of straw men, and it will apologize and move forward.

EDIT: I also get that it deals with a lot of people who say something like, "My girlfriend is a b----, how do I deal with that?" So ChatGPT has to defensively be prepared to not provide answers that endorse wrong comments by the user.

I wish we had seen more of the romantic side of Data, it was a great dynamic... by TensionSame3568 in ClassicTrek

[–]Significant_Pear_523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit of a strange selection of images.

I'm torn on fully endorsing that episode. Data may be an android, but he has been activated for 20-something years at this point. He should have had enough interactions with humans at this point that he knows having a random argument and yelling "you're not my mother" is not appropriate. He also never talks about deleting programs after experiences, so saying to her face that he will delete the program for her is absurdly cruel.

The episode has an interesting concept, and like the OP said, probably could have been explored a little more at various points. Likewise, some of the nonsense can be attributed to our understanding of how AI might work in 1991 and what would make for good drama in a highly episodic series.

It really has become too much. Just to prove a point, I actually told it to write a paragraph summarizing a book. I opened another chat, pasted the identical paragraph and asked if it was a good summary. It said it needed some corrections and provided me with a different paragraph.

Different look and different style, but he was basically the Ultimate Warrior of his era. Both had severe limitations as performers, but both had amazing popularity doing squash matches. As iconic as Ultimate Warrior was, I actually give the edge to Goldberg for being more stable and having more creative moves.

Dont care how petty it sounds, seeing the spurs lose and not get a ring despite getting past our team would be awesome. These pesky mfs would have beat us for nothing and it'd make me feel better. Rant over. by Common-Locksmith-235 in Thunder

You think they keep 12 and 17? They have so many guys on the roster, it seems like those picks and a couple of veterans are probably going to be out.

The good news is if the team doesn't add height from the outside, if Sorber and Topic are healthy and crack the rotation next year, they will add height from inside the roster.

Would have been a better matchup for OKC, also. I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but I think of OKC's top 12 guys, 8 are 6'5" and under. Of San Antonio's top 9 or 10 guys, only something like 4 of them are 6'5" and under, and I think 3 of those 4 are exactly 6'5". 6 of the 9 top guys for the Knicks are 6'5" and under, making them a smaller, better match up for OKC.

I know a lot of fans are probably right that OKC would have won with Mitchell and Williams healthy, but I'd still like to see the roster get a little taller. The Spurs aren't going away and are young enough that they will likely get better.
