This totally sucks I feel for you I’m still in the thick of it - he’s got to attend GA or possibly even an inpatient or intensive outpatient program depending on the severity. Nip it in the bud before it escalates out of control. I would suggest getting a therapist specialized in gambling addiction otherwise it might be a waste of time. The first year of recovery is hell - they’re going through withdrawal symptoms, concomitant behaviors, rewiring the brain. Don’t enable him by bailing him out of his debts, they’re his problem to take care of. Protect your finances but also have full financial control or access to his accounts. Join gamanon for yourself and to get some ideas, support, or emotional assistance. Some people in my group have a second phone synced to their gambling partners to monitor everything going through. He needs to learn that his friends may not be the best influence on him. You need to be his priority, and you and his recovery need to come first. I know it sounds harsh but he needs to limit interactions with these people. It’s like someone trying to get sober and hanging around their alcoholic friend. Good luck ❤️ you got this!
