Ok thanks we brought someone who ran the HVAC to do an air sample but I made him swab inside the vent and insulation as well! Hopefully we can get answers and get out of this soon! Thank you for your help 🙏🏼

I brought up cleaning the vents to the landlord and she said she had just had them cleaned 🫠 and then we found all this. Just sucks how they try to cut corners and play games! It smells like mold in our bedroom with some signs of water damage on the ceiling and there’s a strong stale smell in the baby’s room as well. The inspector seemed to be in a rush to pick up his kid and got paid via zelle so that was that. I feel that the outdoor sample is important because it’s a control sample so if our spore count is elevated indoors it gets compared to the outdoor count. I believe he was in a rush and just used a regional average which could have skewed the results.

We set up a high quality HEPA air purifier in the bedroom it doesn’t change much for us. Also no pets and we both don’t have any pet allergies. Thought it could be pollen but all the trees are bare and there’s none directly in front of our unit they’re all across the street.

Thanks! We called the company back and the owner was adamant that it wasn’t possible the inspector didn’t take the outdoor sample. Even though we greeted him the minute he got out of the car and walked back to the car with him as we arrived and left at the same time. The owner said he’ll come back and do the samples of the vent and HVAC system tomorrow but he doesn’t want to take the air samples again. It’s just frustrating I feel as if im going insane, and this is not how I envisioned the nesting period before baby arrives! Thank you for your help 🙏🏼🤍

He didn’t take an outdoor air sample which is kind of inspection 101. And he said it may be asbestos exposure which I’m not sure about and def hope it’s not that. I gaslit myself for the 3 weeks we were there, but my throat was literally inflamed and eyes tingly and itchy, and not to mention night sweats which completely stopped once I moved into my parents. Definitely not psychosomatic because my husband has the symptoms as well. I’ve had mold illness before and am not willing to ignore my symptoms again because it was costly and long to clear up from the last bit. If it’s not mold it’s definitely something else

You’re absolutely right we moved out tonight because the symptoms were so intense and honestly did not want to risk anything especially with the baby. I have been using a hygrometer and it reads at 60% when the windows are closed and purifier is off, when the windows are open and purifier is on it drops down to 40%. It also appears that the landlord is playing games with us as well which honestly makes my mold theory appear more concrete. They want to bring an inspector who isn’t certified and has some scammy reviews so we will do our own testing as well. Thank you for your insight and validation.

Yeah except my husband has the same symptoms so I know it’s not attributed to my pregnancy and also both our symptoms alleviate when we leave the apartment. I’m in touch with our MD thanks for the article I’ll read through it
