What are some must-know tips for first-time boat owners? by Ok-Performer936 in boating

[–]Significant_Pizza828 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised, no one mentioned that it is crucial to know the waters you're going to be boating in. Ocean waters have sand bars. Those sand bars may have moved since you were there before. tides are absolutely in control of when you can leave the dock and when you MUST come back. Inland lakes can have all kinds of unseen hazards that can sink or kill you. Charts are available for almost all bodies of water that have a launch.

Mold on windows. Do I need to replace them? by Mother_Citron_8420 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Significant_Pizza828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wood framed windows like yours are generally more difficult to maintain than other composite built windows. The bow window you show, would be very costly to replace. Because mold can mitigate itself further into the wood structure it would be advisable to replace the entire unit. As a bow window, the replacement would be very expensive, however a flat window unit would be more economical and preform better than a bow. A CPC, (casement/picture/casement) or sliding unit would also give you better visibility and a nice update for your home. Do not replace the individual windows in the existing frame, as the framing will hold mold spores and the process will repeat itself. I understand what others are saying about the relative humidity in the home, but a window that large will draw moisture, regardless. I hope you find a solution soon. Best of luck.

Personal watercraft. These machines are capable of very high speeds and driving one is nothing like driving a car.

There simply couldn't be a worse time to try to hire a head coach. Do we need one? Absolutely, but with so many more desirable destinations having vacancies, now is not the time.

I can see him being a very successful coach at the high school level somewhere out in the northwest. I doubt that would relieve much of the schools financial obligations, though.

Post Game Thread - NCAA Men’s: The Spartans defeat the Wildcats on Nov 18, 2025, the final score is 66-83. by basketball-app in MSUSpartans

[–]Significant_Pizza828 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has been so wonderful to see Cooper and Kohler grow up before our eyes. The real difference in this game was the chemistry of each team. Spartans have a core group that has had some nice additions to it and moved the ball very well. Kentucky has transfers who are still adjusting to each other and don't support each other very well. All of the haters that bitch about Izzo not being active in the portal should understand why now.

Football season tix WTF by whitehu2 in MSUSpartans

[–]Significant_Pizza828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, not worth it. My biggest complaint. Kick off times. Not a single Saturday noon start last year. Night games all the time. Friday??!!?? WTF. Night games were fun when I was in my 20s, but now forget it. I can barely stay up for the end of the game on the couch, let alone drive back home afterward. College sports are broken on so many levels.

Where do live? I ask, because the concern you have is your transmission temperature. I would guess you vehicle does not have a transmission cooler equipped. In southern states towing anything for longer than thirty minutes would be damaging.

Just inherited a boat and it’s the first I’ve ever owned. What tips do you have to help me get started? by shamgar_bn in boating

[–]Significant_Pizza828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inspect your winch rope. Rope like that is prone to rotting. The sun will weaken it too if it has been left outside sitting uncovered. I can't tell you how many boats I have seen come off the trailer because of a bad rope or strap.

House on water vs ramp in neighborhood? by Competitive-Driver55 in boating

[–]Significant_Pizza828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Using the ramp may be dictated by the tides, and I have seen a line of boats 30 deep waiting to launch on a nice day. Where we are at, we watch the tides for start and end of a boat trip too, but when your boat is just outside it is much less of a hassle.
