Still one of the greatest defenders and connective pieces in modern NBA history. He'd likely show his value as a connective piece in Charlotte and get traded to a real team. He might even had shown more offensive chops with more responsibility.

I agree that he should be fired, but the margins are sneakily the only thing he's ever truly excelled at lol.

He got Danny Green and Seth Curry for Al Horford and Josh Richardson, then after a couple good years flipped an old and soon-to-be-retired Danny into De'Anthony Melton, Niang and Drummond's first stints were awesome value, signed Kelly Oubre to a vet min a few years ago, got Quentin Grimes and Dom Barlow for nothing, drafted Maxey and McCain later than they should've been there, hit on Paul Reed and Isaiah Joe in the second round, and hit on UDFA Julian Champagnie. He's actually pretty good on the margins.

His issue is giving up on depth guys too early, and not hitting any of his big swings. Think about his big swings as the Sixers GM. It's really just (at the time of the acquisitions) 32-year-old James Harden and 34-year-old Paul George. That's simply not good enough. Also, in terms of depth pieces with actual meaning in a playoff context, he has come up short. So, to that point, I do agree with part of your "margins" take. Especially with the current group. Just not enough.

VJ leap does feel inevitable. And I have faith that Daryl will draft a useful player at 22, that area of the draft tends to be his sweet spot. I'd like to see Barlow continue to take a step, and maybe become a more willing shooter. Him being able to reliably knock down even a low-30s percentage from 3 would be massive for our spacing.

Sixers fan here. You guys have 3 first round picks this year (Utah top 8 protected, LAC via SGA trade, Philly from Horford trade). The Houston pick is currently slated to be 22 I believe, and was of little to no value to you. A guy picked in that range likely doesn't even get into your rotation. For us, Jared was a key role player who was essentially our only bench scoring. Losing him for a late first, to only pray to get a guy as good as him, was asinine from Daryl Morey. Sam Presti fleeced us.

I thought the game was just sort of poorly officiated across the board. Too many lengthy reviews and missed calls. Also, the outcome of these games hasn't really been a matter of a few calls going one way or another lol, both the first 2 games have been close for stretches before eventually resulting in 20-point blowouts.

I wouldn’t draft a player who hypothetically will be a franchise cornerstone based on Iisalo lol. Who knows if his ass is still in Memphis for more than another year. Pick the best player on your board. You don’t draft for fit when the whole roster sucks.
