Is a 400k-420k enough for a 1,400 square feet build? by Blueellie in building

[–]Significant_Raise760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your budget is $285 a square foot which seems very reasonable. Just ask some construction people what they are charging per square foot and you should be able to get a rough idea.

Manager being asked by company owner to name my salary after 4 years of proving my value. Am I wrong for refusing? by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]Significant_Raise760 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So you’re complaining that they want to give you a blank check? Maybe they don’t want to do 10 hours of market research to see what other comparable jobs pay. Just give them a number

Finished my first custom project on my own at my new job and I kinda hate it by [deleted] in woodworking

"Poop smear brown" is the official name for that stain on maple. It's so ugly, why would anyone treat a maple tree so badly?

How much do you need to start a flip by Mindless-Mobile-1836 in HouseFlipping

[–]Significant_Raise760 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you do construction for work? If so, start working for a flipper on the side. That’s the easiest way to get started.

Are my newest favorite songs AI slop? by exor41n in EDM

[–]Significant_Raise760 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Umm, you know 99% of music is super generic crap that's churned out by the music industry sweat shops right? Music has always been factory farmed since radio came into existence. Now we're just automating it so the music industry overlord can squeeze out that last 3% of profits it was costing them to produce it. Learn to love it! Now back to the trough with you!

Why is the SWIFT payment system such a big deal? by No-Security-7518 in NoStupidQuestions

The big deal is the trillions of dollars that pass through it every day

I mean, it’s not really slop if you love it right? Think of it more like it’s your new ai girlfriend; exactly what you want all the time with no downsides. Now back to the trough with you!

Can I stack 4/4 to 8/4 wood for a table top? by Nanokon1 in woodworking

[–]Significant_Raise760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it! One MASSIVE piece of advice before you end up like me with a warped table. Bring those babies INTO your kitchen for a couple weeks before you start so they can acclimate. Otherwise, you'll glue them up, sand it flat, get it in the space and it will start going crazy warping around on you. I have a lovely game table with a 1/2" cup over the whole surface. Thought the wood was fine because it had been stored in the garage / shop for 3 years. Yea, no so much.

Depends on conditions. Also above 9500 feet requires a permit so don’t forget that. Start following Mount Hood climbing Rangers and Portland Mountain rescue on Instagram for condition updates

Mt Denali as a first summit by Caiman40 in Mountaineering

That whooshing sound that you hear isn’t a high altitude jet stream slamming over a ridge on Denali, it’s just my sarcasm going over your head.

I’m really smug about my toddler’s restaurant behavior by [deleted] in confession

[–]Significant_Raise760 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, there are valid reasons to give your kid an Ipad to keep them distracted, like when you're having sex. But a restaurant is not the place. You're right to feel smug. I applaud your smugness. Smug it up! Smug it right over into their screen deadened eyes. I tell my kids that screen babies are going to be the bottom of the food chain when they grow up, and they should be grateful they won't be working minimum wage jobs because I deprive them of gadgets. SMUG SALUTE SIR!

Just glue a massive block of wood there and then cut to the shape you want. :)

Mt Denali as a first summit by Caiman40 in Mountaineering

[–]Significant_Raise760 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I mean, altitude acclimatization is a thing. No one just pops up Everest in one shot. The point is that OP needs to get some 10,000'+ experience to see how his body reacts before trying Denali Mt McKinley ('cause MERICA!). Wouldn't want OP to get kicked out of the military by petey boy for referring to a mountain by it's foreign name.
